Hi creative Mom's out there,
My daughter has to dress up as a nursery rhyme character for school and I need some ideas. She is really excited about it. I want to make something cute and easy to make and wear, I don't want to have to buy an expensive costume for one day at school. Has anyone had to do this? What did you all dress up like? Any ideas would be really appreciated.
Little Bo Peep would be quite easy to do (simple dress, styrofoam "hook" that you can cover in fabric-- if she has a sheep stuffed animal, all the better)!
One of the 3 blind mice would be cute (grey shorts/shirt), make a tail and ears out of felt (although you may be able to buy the ears and tail separately at a Halloween store) and pair with sunglasses. :-)

A candy cane yard ornament make a great hook for Little Bo Peep.
Three little kittens-
Dress up as a kitten and send a pair of mittens that she can "find" (either at her desk or in her pockets.) You could also ask her teacher if it would be okay to send a pie. I'm sure the kids would LOVE that! You may even want to make them in foil cupcake pans with ready-made crust and pie filling for an easy treat.

My son's school has a Mother Goose festival every year for the kindergarten kids. Some of the ideas for girls were:
Mary had a little lamb: blue Cinderella dress with a straw hat
Hey Diddle Diddle: Cat costume, black outfit with purchased cat ears and whiskers drawn on
Little Betty Blue: Blue dress, straw hat with trailing ribbon bow
