Does anyone else with IBS have it act up when it gets close to your period? Mine's just horrible right now. Nothing I've been taking is helping. Has anyone had it bad when they got pregnant? I'm just curious.

What can I do next?

IBS can be made worse because there is connective tissue in the abdomen that holds it all together. When the cramps and moving innards get going they can pull and tug on the muscles, uterus, joints, and more. So yes, when the uterus is swelling up and getting ready to slough off it's especially tender so the movement and pulling can be felt more.

Mine is bad when I am stressed. When I am nervous about not having a bathroom near it is so much worse. While I am pregnant it is definitely the other way and I can't go at all with out a probiotic of some sort... Since giving birth 8 mos ago, i have been very constipated and bloated. Right before my dot, I can get crampy and have diarrhea.

Yes. That is one of the symptoms I had early on before I even knew I had IBS. I would get diarrhea during my period and bouts of alternating constipation and diarrhea when traveling. I think it is common to have problems during your period. Sometimes the cramping would also get so bad that I would double over in discomfort.

Yes! My IBS is horrible right before and during my period. I take Donnatal and it really helps with my cramping and pain. My friend at work takes it also and it helps her too. When I was pregnant, by IBS barely acted up. It was great!

yes!! I get horrible IBS issues right before my period is supposed to come. It took me a while to figure out that's what was happening, but it's pretty regularly miserable a couple of days before my period.
Bleh. Stupid IBS.

Yes, my IBS is a nightmare when I have my period. Terrible diarrhea. For this reason, my doctor had me start taking the pill straight through about 10 years ago, skipping the fake period week (placebo pills). I only get a period every few months now, when I choose (and I wait until weeks I know I can deal with it). My IBS isn't as bad then when I don't deal with a period every month, either.
