I Just Found Out My Daughter Is Cutting Herself

Today my daughter broke down in school, she told her counselor that she has been cutting herself every now and then. She said that this is not happening often but sometimes she just has to to stop hurting inside. Does anybody know of a counseling center in the killeen area that I can get her some help? I'm scared and I don't know what to do. I have suffered from depression for a number of years, I want my daughter to be healthy and strong. Both mentally and physically.

What can I do next?

I am so sorry to hear about this for you and your daughter. I hope no matter where you go that you find the help and peace that you need.
While my husband was deployed, I put my step-son in counseling. We went to Cavinaugh and associates. They are in Harker Heights. My son met with C. Svoboda...yes it's spelled correctly. She was outstanding!! I think there may be a waiting list to be seen and I don't know if you are comfortable with doing that but I would hgighly recommend meeting with her. The office is very professional and she kept in very good contact with me about ideas to help and things that I could do too. My prayers are with you and your family!

I am so sorry that your family is going through this, but just know that help is available. I don't know if you are looking for a male or female counselor, but Dr Carl Settles is located in Killeen and he is wonderful with children and their families. His number is ###-###-####.

My doctor recommended Dr Michael Campell to me, his practice has several other mental health specialists, women as well as men, and some specialize in working with kids. Here's the address and phone number:
880 Prospector Trail Harker Heights, TX 76548- 2700
Tel: ###-###-####
Good luck, I hope you find her someone who can help

GOD BLESS YOU - next to the WAL MART in HH in that red brick building on the corner of 2410 there is a counselor - I took my daughter to her for sepration anxiety - her name is Dr Walsh or Welsh... its been a while but stop in there and see if she is still there and if she is accepting new clients - if not she can refer you to a colleague I am sure - but she was wonderful with my daughter.... good luck and I will keep you in my prayers!

I would recommend The Center for Positive Change in Belton. Fran Strange is the therapist. The location is 404 N. Main St. Belton, TX. You can reach her at ###-###-#### or ###-###-####.

I will be praying for you and your daughter. Hang in there and please get her into counseling. Kids that do cutting are in great pain and need help coping with life.

Take care,
Danabeth
