Husband Works in the City & Would like to Find a Way to Get There from Rockland.
Hello everyone, We currently live in Jersey and my husband takes the bus into the city for work. However we'll be moving back to Rockland in Novemember. I wanted to see if anyone knew of any ideas so he doesn't have to take a car to get into the city. This is the problem. He has to be to work by 6:30 in the morning. So I know there are buses, etc, but they don't run at the time, supposedly. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know. Thanks.

funny enough i moved to nj 3 years ago from Rockland, my husband too works in the city and wanted a shorter commute. We lived in spring valley- he would drive to the montvale park and ride and take the bus from there- not sure how early the bus starts but it was a quick and quick can be from Rockland to the city

V.,
The first train out of Pearl River leaves at 5am, it gets to Penn Station just after 6. Check the NJ Transit website. I think Pearl River is on the Pascack Valley line.

Not sure how close you are to the NJ border, but another option might be to pick up either an NJ transit bus or train and take that into the city. I'm pretty sure both run fairly early.

If he's going in that early, he could drive over the Tappan Zee to Tarrytown and take Metro North from there. I used to live in Tarrytown and a lot of people did that. He'd have to get a Tarrytown parking permit but the express train into Grand Central only takes about 35 minutes from there.
