K....

They will fade but always be there. I think some can be "removed" with a tummy tuck, but any other place you have them, they will always be there. Sorry...

Hi K., I just wanted to update my recent response to your question in that I have started having body wraps which tone the skin and nourish the skin with minerals. The wraps are supposed to minimize stretch marks as well. You can visit www.sanjosebodywraps.com and also call them, and Emma can explain the benefits of body wrapping. If you tell her V. referred you, you will receive 20% off. Be well and good luck! V. G. :o) PS - please know that if the Glimpse Intuitive Skin Care (which nourishes skin to help produce collagen) - mom-owned biz www.findgreenhere.com and/or the wraps help to minimize my stretch marks noticeably, I will be letting all moms on mamasource know! Jafra makes a product called Stretch Mark Corrector ($22) that works well to diminish stretch marks caused by pregnancy, weight fluctuation and rapid breast development in young girls. I've had several clients use the product with noticeable results in 30-45 days. I'm offering a 15% discount to Mamasource members in case you want to give the product a try. SMC is formulated with botanical extracts that have been used in herbal remedies for centuries: Tahitian Tamanu fruit extract helps stimulate collagen synthesis and Rose Hips oil helps reduce the appearance of scars.
Let me know if you want to give it a try and I'll arrange to deliver it to you. You can see my listing in Mamasource perks for more information about Jafra, the oldest direct market cosmetic company in the world.

Sorry, but nothing (unless you want to have surgery). Only time will fade them. Good luck!

Unfortunatly I don't think you can get rid of them once you have them, but I used the MOtherhood lotion from the Motherhood store, the one in the short bottle that's $15, the entire time during my pregnancy and than for about 3-4 mths after each one, and I did not get on stretch mark (and I had two over 9 pds)....maybe try that, it says to continue use for 6 weeks after giving birth (I had such a stash left that's why I was able to use it for mths afterwards).

Good luck

although they will never go away, you can reduce the appearance. I just started using Bio Oil. Not sure yet how it's working, but it's worth a shot. I bought it at Walgreens for about $12. Google it and there you can find more info on it.

Dear K.,
Ugh. Stretch marks. I was very tiny when I got pregnant and was scared to death of them. I used cocoa butter and baby oil every day with both pregnancies to keep my skin soft. I only have a couple of stretch marks very low on my tummy. It was a previous operation incision that didn't streth quite as well as everything else.
I do know that vitamin E can really work wonders even if you get a scratch or cut or stitches.
Put it on your kids too, if they get scraped up. The nice with vitamin E and kids is that there is no odor or burning.
I think there are lazers than can help with stretch marks, but I think it's pretty pricey.
I've never tried it, but I've seen those commercial for "Head-On", apparently this stuff you can rub on your head to get rid of headaches. Well, the same people have one for scars and stretch marks. I think they sell them at Walgreen's, Rite Aid, places like that.
Even just massaging vitamin E into the areas every day will help and they do diminish over time.
I hope you get some other good ideas. I'd like to know what others say.

Best of wishes and congratulations on your little one.

K., those people without stretch marks don't have them because they have more elastic skin. There is nothing you can do to prevent them or to get rid of them once you have them...so don't waste your money on products! Vitamin E and cocoa butter just help to moisturize but if your skin won't stretch well in the first place there is nothing can be done.. The only thing that I think covers them is getting a tan!! Sorry...don't you hate those people with that perfect skin?? :)

I agree 100% with the one response about vitamin E. There is nothing better then pure Vit E. Break a gel cap open and apply. I use it on both my kids. It is a little sticky and stiff but the results are amazing. I used Vit E on my belly for both my pregnancies and I don't have stretch marks. I have the other problem, horrible cellulite. LOVELY! Vit e works wonders on burns too. Just lightly rub it in and let it sit. Plus if your kids happen to get it in their mouth its safe. I use it on my newborn for rashes. Softens the skin.I wish I could wave a magic wand and presto our bodies look better. As my one friend says, she calls her stretch marks from her pregnancies, her military stripes. Mine are the bags under my eyes right now. I think we are all very well decorated solders for all we do as mom's.

Hang in there.

Hi K.,
There is a product by the name of Mederma which can be purchased without a prescription. It has shown to smooth and even the appearance of scars (including stretch marks) so they look more like normal skin. The downsides are that it is not super cheap (close to $20 for a small tube) and it does take time to work (probably several months of daily use). It should be available in RiteAid, Walmart, Target and Walgreens (usually in the skin care section of the pharmacy department). May be worth a try if you think you can be patient and use it regularly.

Hi K.,

I had stretch marks from my first pregnancy really bad on my hips and thighs. I was told to use vitamin E oil after bathing. I used it two to three times a day. They have never completely gone away, but they are less noticable...definately. However, I had surgery in 2001 and I used the oil on my scars. I used it every day for about a year. I just made it a daily routine and guess what!?! I can't even see them or even tell I had surgery. So, now that I had my third child and have the stretch marks in my hair line I will be starting up the daily routine once again. Good luck and God bless!
