J. - you need a lawyer...

I'm sorry this is happening..it's got to be tough. Find out what the courts found as valid evidence to take your son away from you....then work to see if you can rectify the situation and get your son back - basically what hoops do the courts want you to jump through to get him back.

Seek help through a lawyer, a womans shelter - they might be able to direct you to places who can help you since you no longer have a home, job, etc.

Also contact the Alzheimers Society (if this is what your mother has) and fight out what help you can get from them not only to care for your mother but to get your life back as well as your son!!

Good luck! God Bless!!

Ask the courts to grant you supervised visitation. Playing with your son for an hour at the local police department may not be your ideal, but it will maintain contact. If that goes well, you have witnesses to support your request for more visitation.

Hi J.,

I'm so sorry you're having such a struggle.

It looks like in May you had an arrangement where you COULD see your son with supervised visits on Sundays from 10-5. Why was there a change? Is it that his dad is not allowing the supervised visits? He can't do that - if you are allowed the visits, so you need to take him back to court or give us some background on why he is not allowing you the supervised visits that you were granted in May.

If you're only allowed Sundays from 10-5, then you can't go up to his school, I don't think. But you would need to check the visitation order to see about visitation outside of Sundays. Who was with you in court in May? Call them and find out what to do.

Good luck to you.

Can you see a lawyer?
Why do you have to give up your apt?
Why do you have to move in w/your mom whom has dementia?
Is she on meds? Can you call her doctor to see that she has the appropriate meds to control her dementia ? Is it Alzheimers?
Would moving in w/your mom be safe for your son?
Where do you get your money from? Do you have any saved?
Call your city/county's local Medicare/Medical to inquire about help.
You need financial support it sounds like and your mom may need doctor visits and meds.
Take a deep breath.
Make a list of things you need to go/take care of.
Handle one thing at a time.
You will get through this!
It takes time to "come out on the other side".
Take any help offered to you by friends or the state.
Take some down time for yourself: 30 mins when your child goes to sleep.
Check out a book from your local library in regards to dementia.
She may not have "just" dementia....it could be Alzheimers.
You need to take her to her primary physican first.....start there.
Ask questions about her mental capacity.
Take notes.
Everything will work out. You just need to think about everything, take notes, ask ?'s, save $, find what kind of financial aid you CAN get and take it. Hang in there! :)
