Hershey Park - Kew Gardens,NY

I am pretty sure you can visit ZooAmerica with your Hershey Park tickets.

Gettysburg is nearby if you like Civil War history.

You could go to Lancaster and check out all the Amish goodness if that's your thing. Lancaster County caters to tourists so just Google for websites.

Definitely go to the chocolate factory. It has a little 'ride' in it that is free. My toddler liked it as much as the amusement park.

With one that little, would you consider going to Dutch Wonderland instead of Hershey Park? You could still stay in Hershey, they are not far from each other. All the rides in DW are designed for small kids, whereas in Hershey Park, you child will only be tall enough to ride a small percentage of them.

I've been to both Hershey Park and DW with small kids, and I thought that for that age group, DW was better.

We were just there last Monday actually. The park is clean, the wait times were'nt bad at all, but we thought the people who worked there were generally not overly friendly. We have season passes to Busch Gardens in Williamsburg and those employees are much more friendly...but it was still lots of fun!

There is a lot to do for every age category, but a lot of roller coasters. They have the rides, and a water park - so plan for what you want to do ahead of time. We did NOT do the water park since we had a 3.5 hour drive home.

Parking was $12 and not bad at all. Zoo America is included in your ticket, as is Chocolate World. If you want to make your own candy, reserve a time early. We tried on our way out and it would have been a 2 hour wait - we didn't wait for it. The factory tour was fun and free though.

We stayed in Lancaster, close to our daughter's dance competition hotel, so I don't know about hotels. I don't know how convenient it will be to go in and out of the park for naps, but it's doable at least by ticket standards. You can also get in on your ticket the night ahead of time an hour or two before the park closes for no extra money...I think they will even validate your parking for the next day.

We always get at least 2 souvenier cups when we first get there...we can get them refilled for cheaper the rest of the day. But they also didn't make me toss my own water bottles going in.

Check local bases for tickets if you have access - our tickets were only $39.50 per adult and $34.50 per child that way...otherwise lots of places will have discounts.

Yeah dutch wonderland might be easier. Try Hershey when he's older. We live in the region and since the kids were 6 we go every year, once in the summer , once in the winter and occasionally in the spring for a music competition which the school compets in.

I second those who recommend Dutch Wonderland. We were there a couple of weeks ago. My nephew (5) and nieces (3 and 7) absolutely LOVED it. My own daughters (11 and 13) had a lot of fun as well. The rides are perfect for smaller children and the park isn't overwhelming like some of the other huge amusement parks.

I went to Hershey many years ago, while in college. I remember the entire place smelling like chocolate. I loved it, but then again, I love all amusement parks!

We went to Hershey Park with our 3 kids last month. Our youngest 4 year old enjoyed little rides. She was at Hershey Kisses height which meant she could ride some rides by herself or with me (though the seats are smaller -not comfy for adults lol). But I could tell she was not into roller coaster rides yet. Maybe still too young :) our older 11 and 9 year old had a blast with rides and water park.
I would take towels and sunscreen as there is a water park. This might be better for youngsters. Hopefully weather will be nice for you to enjoy water park.
Zoo America can be accessed from Hershey Park. This can be interesting too. Can't comment on that as my older wanted to ride, ride, ride so we didn't venture there.
We took Kissing Tower to see 360 view of the park and it was pretty neat.
In the park I'd purchase meal ticket as this let u purchase meal and you get souvenir cup which you can later refill with iced water for free or buy any drink for 99c ( the cup is quite tall).
If you stay in Hershey Lodge- there is a shuttle to Hershey Park, no need to worry about parking just show your key room . The Lodge has indoor, outdoor pool, activities for kids and miniature golf. It is great place for families with children.

i have heard Dutch Wonderland is better for smaller children than Hershey. Sesame Place is also great for 4 yr olds.
