I can't help much except to say that mine dislodged as well. We didn't get pregnant but I was not very happy!

Hello,

It seems by listening to your statement that if you were preganant, it would be a blessing. There are other options such as the morning after pill, according to when the IUD fell out.

also, I think it's wise to speak to your GYN.

Good Luck!

Plan B does not cause birth defects, just so you know. If you have already conceived and take it, it will not abort the baby and will not cause birth defects. Sorry, I have no advice, just wouldn't want you to worry per Karen N. writing it would cause birth defects. I have read the packaging of this pill.

The only way to know for sure is going to the OBGYN.

I would not run out and do Plan B without talking to my doctor first! Yikes!! You don't know exactly when it may have dislodged from its proper position... There could be a difference between the time it took to dislodge and the time you 'discovered' it. Hence, conception may have occurred prior today (if at all--maybe not)... My point is, if you have already conceived over 48-72 hours ago, then taking Plan B could cause birth defects in an otherwise healthy baby.

EDIT: I stand by the initial concern. Look, they tell us no birth control pills once you're pregnant... One study concluded: "Several reported studies, including this one, show a predominance of males among malformed offspring whose mothers used OCs during pregnancy. These findings indicate that the association between birth defects and OC use around the time of conception is not large, but the association is not easily reconciled with a non-causal explanation." So, basically, if there is a risk, then the risk is more to male babies than females.

Yea, there are web sources that say Plan B (an extremely high dose of birth control hormones) will not cause birth defects if pregnancy has already occured. However, I'm old enough to remember when tobacco companies got doctors and scientists to say smoking doesn't cause lung cancer.

You should weigh what you think sounds reasonable. I personnally would not do it, but I am also not a gambler. Good luck in whatever you decide and I hope it turns out your not pregnant.
