Help - Tiny Ants!!!

With every downpour another swarm of teeny little ants finds its way into another part of my kitchen!!! Bleah!

l;ast night at 11:00 i found them in my kitchen junk drawer - which then get cleaned within a few minutes (GROSS). When I find them I clean it all out, put an ant trap down and wait for the next invasion.

Does anyone have a solution? We've been in this house for 16 years and have never had more than a few ants once every few years...

What can I do next?

Borax.

Sprinkle a little in the very backs of cabinets, in the corners where they come in, wherever kids can't access.

All ant bait, including Terro, is made from Borax. I've seen lots of recipes for sugar-water-borax baits...which all work just fine. But I've had equal success just putting down borax, covering the area to decrease access to humans and pets, and sweeping it up a week later.

Keep kids and pets away from it. It's dangerous if inhaled.

Try "Terro". It is a liquid ant bait that the ant's will stream to and take the bait back to the nest, killing all the ants!

Takes a day or so but, if you just leave it alone you will see them disappear completely. My bosses house was built on an ant hill and that is how the pest control company got rid of them for her. That was like 5 years ago, no problems since.

Spray around the foundation and up around every window with Terro Spider Spray. Nothing works better.
If you use ant traps, put them away from your house.

1 cup water 1/2 cup sugar 2 tablespoons borax.....combine and bring to boil while stirring. Store in container, place a small amount in a shallow lid, bowl, whatever you have...the ants need to be able to get in and out of the shallow object. The ants will flock to this! They are attracted to the sugar and water combo, so they take it in and return to their colony.....but their bodies cannot digest the borax, so it kills them and all ants they share it with. Also non toxic to children and pets, unless taken in huge quantities!

Even though they're not as bad as the big carpenter ants, I still hate those ants. I can't repeat what my grandmother used to call them. I find the best things to do are...and you must do all of them.....get insect granuals from either your local feed store or Home Depot and put them around the outside of your foundation just before it rains....get the metal can type ant bait and place them in the corners of the room or where the ants are entering the house....and plant mint around the perimeter of you house. Also, completely remove the junk drawer and clean both the drawer and the drawer slot with a good household cleaner. Then put contact paper in the drawer. You want to make sure there is no oil, grease, or stickiness in that drawer.

I too have been having a hard time with ants. We try to make sure we don't leave anything out, but one little spot in the sink, and it's covered!

We have recaulked along windows and things and it seems to have helped.

Are they so tiny the could be mistaken for spilled cinnamon? I had those and they were grease ants. I had to stop storing my butter on the counter and they went away.
