Help! Looking for a Recipe

One of the mother's in my MOPS group brought in the most amazing snack. It had Chex, marshmallows, pretzels, M&M's, peanuts and dried cranberries in it. It was coated in something sugary. It almost looked like icing, but it wasn't that thick. I don't really know how to explain it. It was SO good! I asked around and nobody seemed to know who had made it. I want that recipe! It would be a big hit as a Christmas snack. Can anyone help me?

It definitely didn't have peanut butter in it. I might have been powdered sugar though. I make the dog food, only I call it Puppy Chow or Muddy Buddies. I think we're on the right track though!

It might be the White Trash. It's not chocolate, so it's not puppy chow. It's all white.

What can I do next?

My friend makes "white trash" its pretzels, m&ms, chex pieces, nuts, etc all coated in white chocolate. She melts the chocolate and coats everything in it. it kind of stick together in clumps, so when you take a bite there might be a little bit of everything. If that's it, you can search White trash on allrecipes.com

LOL... it's call "dog food". It's a classic girlscout/ boyscout treat.

The sugary part is powdered sugar. It's bonded with the chex mix + trail mix with EITHER:

- peanut butter
- melted chocolate
- marshmallow fluff
- honey

You put all the ingredients together in a ziplock bag. Add a couple tablespoons of your wet/sticky stuff and shake until everything is completely coated. Dump in enough powdered sugar so that it's not sticky any more because the powdered sugar then coats it all. Usually in several rounds. Aka, tablespoon... shake. Tablespoon... shake.

This has popcorn & no marshmallows, but will it work?

Snackerjacks:

8 cups freshly popped popcorn (remove any unpopped kernels)
1 cup roasted salted peanuts
1 cup red and green M&M candies
1 cup dried cranberries
1 1/2 cups sugar
1/2 cup unsalted butter
1/2 cup light corn syrup
1/4 teaspoon salt

1. Line large rimmed baking sheet with foil; spray with cooking spray. Combine popcorn, peanuts, candies and cranberries in large bowl.

2. Bring all remaining ingredients to a boil in large saucepan over medium-high heat, stirring frequently. Cook 3 minutes or until sugar is dissolved and syrup is boiling, stirring occasionally. Reduce heat to medium; boil, without stirring, 5 to 7 minutes or until mixture turns light caramel color. Boil an additional 2 to 3 minutes or until syrup is rich golden brown. (Watch carefully as syrup can darken quickly.)

3. Remove from heat. Pour over popcorn mixture; stir quickly to blend well. Immediately spread on baking sheet, spreading out as much as possible and using two forks to pull apart any clumps. Cool 15 minutes or until warm; break into pieces. Cool completely. (Snack mix can be made 5 days ahead. Store in an airtight container.)

I just received my cooking club magazine & saw it in there. I haven't tried it yet. But, looks really good for Christmas.

Sounds a little like what I call "Reindeer Food". Mine has Corn Chex, Wheat Chex, Rice Chex, pretzels, M&Ms, dry roasted nuts and is coated w/ white chocolate.

Honestly, there are several versions of this. Just put together some of those ingredients and coat w/ white chocolate. Spread onto waxed paper, cool and break into pieces.

I just talked to someone at the gym who uses Golden Grahams in hers, but no M&Ms. I know someone else who uses Crispix. You shouldn't go wrong w/ this by experimenting. It's easy to do. Just combine your ingredients in a very large mixing bowl. Might want to add your ingredients a little at a time until you get the mixture/combo you decide you want. Melt the white chocolate, pour over immediately and spread out to cool.

Who knows, you might come up w/ something you like even better!

They only use Chex mix, put you can add any other ingredients you want.

9 cup Chex
1 cup chocolate chips
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/4 cup butter
1/4 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 cup powdered sugar
Put cereal in large bowl. Melt chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
Pour over Chex cereal, put into a large plastic bag with powdered sugar and shake well to coat.

Spread mixture evenly on wax paper and allow to cool.

I'm sure it was just coated in almond bark. It comes in a big block at the store in the baking aisle. You melt it down and then pour it over said ingredients in a stock pot........stir until everything is coated. Then pour it on parchment paper and let it sit in room temp until it "sets". Doesn't take long at all. I call it xmas crunch. I use fruit loops, salted peanuts and pretzel sticks in mine. =0)

**Almond Bark comes in vanilla (white) or chocolate**

I think you have it right - Puppy chow. I think the coating is powered sugar!!

Try making it yourself and see what you come up with - it might just be better!!!
