Help! I Need Advice on "Nanny Cams"!

Where there is a will there is a way. You need to focus on the will or in his case the why.

Have you/his father sat down and talked with him about what those sites are all about and WHY he is not allowed to go on them? The more you try and keep him from it the more he is going to try and find a way to see it. He can always go to a friends house...you will just drive yourself nuts trying to control him.

My children are still young, but remembering back to my rebellious days, if my son was going through that phase, I would have him do a report on sex and pornography. Until he completed the report no "toys" (tv, game systems, mp3, etc). He is old enough to do this. You need to set him guidelines. What is the purpose of sex, and how different people look at sex- from chastity to pornography, AND *** the ways these choices affect their lives.***

He obviously wants to know about sex and is trying to explore what that means- these websites are offering him knowledge. You need to step in and show him what you want him to know about sex. Don't try and keep it from him, just open up his mind wider then what he is looking at now. The unknown and forbidden is always more exciting.

I am not sure where you can locally buy the nanny cams, but have you researched Google to find them online? Maybe have them delivered to a family member/ work so they aren't delivered to the home? I did not read your first post but just read some of the responses. I have you also tried computer programs that will not allow those sites through without a password? I am glad you are getting help for your son. Porn is addictive and destructive. I know many parents turn their heads thinking it is a normal phase for them to go through, but in some cases it can be damaging and a life long problem. Good luck to you!

as long as the websites are not violent or "gross" have you thought about book marking a "gentle" site he can look at, sort of like getting , back in the day a victoria secret catalog versus a playboy magazine...i mean the need is there, boys will find something. i have heard stories of the bra ads in sears catalogs being used...

You know when I think about it I am so glad I got this wifi camera thing when I did. You have all this stuff going on in life and putting extra worry on something that you shouldn’t have to is the last thing we need. i never read the first post so i dont know what issues your dealing with. but...about the camera which is what you really want to know about...several places have camera's. radio shack, sams wholesale, bestbuy, etc. i have a camera thats in my window. i'm not sure if you can set it up to record. but you plug it into your modem with the ethernet cable. the camera has its own web addres and you can be anywhere and go online to its address and see whats going on. you can even use the arrow buttons on the screen to rotate the camera around. maybe he just needs to think that it records cause your going to be spending alot of time watching nothing over and over again. this camera you can periodically peek in. and if someone is in the room they are going to hear that the camera is rotating and someone IS watching. its a private address, only you with the address can view it online. i believe if you have a good enough cell phone you can view it from that too.
