Good afternoon everyone. I am having an issue, and I hope to get some feedback and resources from those who have information and experience regarding this situation. I live in a small condo building for over a few years now, and everyone knows each other. Now there a couple of units being rented, and within the last month, my daughter and I have come home, and there has been a substance on my door that "appears" to be male fluids for lack of a better phrase on our door now. Now, it is on our door everyday when we come home, no matter what time of day. Our unit was the only one that has been done to, but within the last two weeks, they have done it to another unit. Both where there are only females living there. Long story short. I have called the police twice and they have stated you have to catch the person in the act. No tests can be run on the fluid off an asumption. The owner of the unit has spoken with and told the male renter if it is him he will be thrown out, etc. Yet it continues. I am at my wits end. Can someone recommend a camera system that is not costly, effective, and I can monitor it myself thru internet, etc. where it can't be tampered with outside my door? I have to have proof, and be certain of who it is. Whether it be him or someone's ex who has keys, etc. Thank you.

What can I do next?

buy.com has some security wireless cameras that are monitored via your desktop computer some are as low as 90.00 and actually has two cameras..maybe you can split the price with the other female tenants? You can also do a search on amazon and get reviews. Good luck, be safe and hope you catch this sucker

Get one of those tiny spy cams or nanny cams, something you can hide in a light or plant, or in the widow like one of those nanny cam bears. They are usually motion activated and record to a sd card.

How awful! The New York Times had an article last week about how people are buying security cameras to catch their neighbors doing bad things, like breaking in. (Your type of situation wasn't mentioned.) I can't recall if it listed specific brands, but it did mention that there are low-cost ones out there.

I'm not sure how much you're willing to spend but something like this: http://www.spygate.com/product.php?productid=16298&ca... might help. It's small enough that it can be hidden (even if it's just put so it's slightly under the door).

Good luck! I hope you're able to catch whoever is doing this!

We just installed 3 cameras trained on different points outside our home, both for security and to monitor our kids when they're playing outside. We can see the surveillance in real time on the TV when we're inside the house as well as on a website from anywhere in the world, and it records to a dedicated DVR/DVD player for 14 days before taping over the first day and then the second day, etc. Perry Myers, my very good friend and owner of a PI agency in Chicago, sent one of his guys over with all of the equipment and to do all of the set up. My husband and I couldn't be more thrilled with the results. Perry's number is ###-###-#### ext. 200.

Good luck,
L.

You know when I think about it I am so glad I got this wifi camera thing when I did. You have all this stuff going on in life and putting extra worry on something that you shouldn’t have to is the last thing we need. I can watch my house, kids and property right from my iPhone and that gives me the greatest peace of mind. It will literally send me a text saying something is moving in your house and I can log on right away and see what’s going on- mostly just the kids playing. But you never know especially when you have a stranger watching over your kids. It eases you just seeing the person doing the right- not because they know they are being watched (because they don’t) because it’s the right thing to do. So I seriously suggest checking out this company Spycameras.com. Http:// bit.ly/pvq3oc
P.S. they are very well priced and all the setup and support is free. They literally connect to your computer to set it up.

Here is an option: Contact an attorney before you do this to find out how you can sue the perpetrator. You may be able to sue for compensation for the cost of camera, cleaning your door and the related stress of being a victim. The perpetrator not only needs to be arrested (ask the attorney what the likely charge will be), but they need to pay you for this grievous violation of your right to live peacefully. Good luck, I hope it all works out.
