Hi moms! OK, I am hoping that this has happened to at least one of you and I can figure out what to do! The twins (8 months old)always sleep until about 7:45am, Brayden (my 4 year old) and I wake up around 7 to have breakfast and spend some time together before the babies are awake. Well around 7:15 I heard some baby talk coming from the nursery. I was pouring Brayden some juice and they were not crying (just talking to each other) so I finished up and then started walking to get the babies. I was about 10 steps from the babies room and I heard Shiloh start to scream. I ran in there and he was ON THE FLOOR!!!!!!!!!! How in the world did he get out of his crib? Brayden was in a crib until he was 2 years old and he never got out!! What am I supposed to do? Now I am scared of naptimes and bedtime! HELP!!!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Yes, the mattress is at the lowest setting. And there is nothing in or around the crib for him to use to climb on. There is nothing!! He must have just climbed up and over. I call him monkey for a reason, but I never thought he would EVER try to climb out of his crib.

There is a tent that is mesh. It connects to the crib and zips close. It will help keep baby in..

My daughter just learned how to climb out of her crib too. We just took her mattress out and put it on the floor and put the crib away.

You may want to consider getting a crib tent. I had to use one with my daughter. They are mesh and you can find them online or at Babies R Us. With a tent there is really no way for the baby to get out. It zips from the outside. My daughter was older than your twins. She thought it was pretty cool. But, more importantly it kept her safe.

I agree to make sure the mattress is as low as it will go and remove anything he can use to stand on. If they share the same crib he may try to climb on his sister. LOL

That said, some kids are just climbers. Make sure your dressers are anchored to the wall now. They sell the tethers everywhere, Home Depot, Target, Babies or Toys-R-Us. They are very simple to install. The only "special tool" you may need to buy is a stud finder. You can get one for a few bucks and again are very easy to use. I installed a tether to our dresser that we put the fish tank on. My kids weren't climbers but I thought they might make an exception to look at the fish.

If the fall doesn't scare him out of trying again just know that he will quickly learn a safer route out of the bed. Sometimes there is just no stopping them. You may be looking at getting a toddler bed or big boy bed sooner than expected. Good Luck!

I'm assuming that the crib mattress is at the lowest setting and the sides at the highest setting? Are all stuffed animals, bumper pads,or anything he can climb ON out of the crib?
