Hi Ladies,
I'm having a Laparoscopy procedure done on Friday (through the belly button).
I've had some fluid trapped behind my Uterus and it's gotten a little larger. The doctor couldn't be 100% sure that it was nothing...so I chose to go ahead with the Laparoscopy on Friday.
Has anyone else had this procedure done and how was it? (I'm anxious)
Has anyone had fluid behind their Uterus and if so, what did you find out?
My parent's are coming in to help with the kids for the weekend and my husband will be off of work too. I'm sure I will be fine...just nervous!
Thanks for any responses that I get! :)

So What Happened?

Thanks ladies for all your responses for the Laparoscopy procedure. It went fine and I'm taking things easy for a while.
My parent's and husband are here to help with the kids! :)
They did drain the fluid behind my uterus, removed a cyst on my left ovary, and took care of some endometriosis I didn't know I had.
The gas part isn't bad either...I told my doctor I was concerned about the gas going into my shoulder and they said after the procedure they would try to get as much gas out that they could.
They gave me meds. for the pain and I didn't have to take one last night. I'll see how well I do today and just use Tylenol as needed.
Thanks again ladies!
T.

I've had two laporoscopy's and also had my gallbladder removed that way too. It is a very simple operation, your scars won't even be 1/2 inch long and with my first one, I didn't even take the prescribed pain medication. I think the biggest thing is to have a smooth ride home because you may still be feeling the anesthesia. Then plan on eating a light soup and sleeping for a few hours. After that you should feel pretty good. You should not lift your children for ?1-2 weeks? and that is probably the hardest rule to follow!

T.,

I just had my second laparoscopy last Wednesday. It really isn't all that bad. You just need to take it easy and even if you think you feel okay to be up and doing a lot of things, don't. You'll recover much faster. Take all the help you can get. Sorry, but I haven't had any experience with fluid behind my uterus.

Wishing you all the best with your upcoming surgery.

I have had 3 of these to treat endometriosis. They are no big deal at all. Be prepared to rest for a day or two, but then you should be fine. I only had a "no lifting" rule for 3 days, but follow your doctor's orders!

I always felt completely fine by the 3rd day, but only becuase I didn't over do it!!

Sending prayers your way!

The laparoscopy is not as painful as having a baby. You will be sore for a couple days, but healing happens quickly. I know it is difficult not to worry, but try to relax.

Best wishes,

I had Laparoscopy surgey a few years ago because I had a heart shaped uterus and they neede to fit it for me to get pregnant.

The day of your surgery, you will be very uncomfortable because they have to put air in your stomach to inflat it so they can get the instruments in. Not all of the air comes out so it needs to dissapate on its own. I had some bad cramping for a few days and it can travel to your shoulders(which mine did)and cause you pain there. It is nothing to worry about, it is just uncomfortable.

I also had a very sore throat for a few days because they have to intabate you for the surgery.

I just took it easy for a few days and then went back to work without a problem.

Good luck!

I've had a couple of them done: Checking cysts on the ovaries, blocked tubes, uterine polyps.

Be sure that the day of it, and the next 2 days, you really take it easy and rest.

I don't know if you've had many procedures, but take the opportunity to talk to the anesthesiologist. Let him/her know any and all side effects you and or your family has had from anesthesia - it'll make the experience much better.

WIth pain meds: I would usually take them the first day, and maybe the second day. Then I'd usually try to see if I could get by with Advil during the day, and save the pain meds from the doctor for trying to sleep through the night if I needed them.

For what it's worth - and good luck!

I had laparoscopy done last year. I had a blood filled cyst on my ovary that the doc was going to remove. It unknowingly ended up bursting before the surgery so when I got into surgery doc just ended up having to drain all the fluid out. That could be a possibility of what the fluid is. The surgery itself was not bad, the anxiety leading up to the surgery is the worst part. I had a very sore throat for a couple of days. The incision is very small, heals pretty quickly. Recovery is not too bad, pretty out of it the day of and a little the next day but by the second day feeling pretty good. It is good that you have help lined up for the weekend. I did the same thing and it was definitely appreciated. Good luck! You will do great and be back to yourself in no time!
