Has Anyone Ever Used a Mommy's Helper?

Hello to All,

We have a neighbor who is 11 1/2 years old who has asked if we need some help with the children for the summer. She is a very nice girl and I would like to have the extra help at home. It would be great for my children to have a playmate who can help take care of them while I am taking care of the laundry and housekeeping.

My question however is how much to pay her? Has anyone had a mom's helper and how did you reimburse them. I would love the help, but have a budget I need to keep to.

Thanks for your help.

Mommy's helpers are AWESOME. They younger kids always tend to actually play and keep the children occupied. They also do a a really good job cleaning up after the children My daughter is 13 and she is a great little helper. I give her $4-$5 per hour for helping with her 3 little brothers.

I say go for it! Who couldn't use a little extra help sometimes. I think you should decide what you can spend and still be able to stay within budget and than talk to her and her parents about it. Maybe you can only afford $45 a week so maybe you could ask for her help on 3 days and pay her $15 a day. Or you could do it hourly at $2 or $3 an hour. At 11 she probably wants to buy something for herself that her parents won't buy for her so she is looking for a way to make some extra cash.

Have a great summer!
