Has Anyone Delivered at Deaconess Hospital?

My doctor delivers at both Lakeside Hospital and Deaconess Hospital. I just got the "estimated bill" for Lakeside, which has to be paid up front, and it is sooo expensive! Way more expensive than our first baby was. So my husband wants to know if Deaconess would be more affordable? We have insurance, but even with our insurance the bill for Lakeside is $2200! My husband just lost his job and is doing temp work till he finds something better, and this is just way more than we expected. So, I guess I want to know if Deaconess is cheaper, AND is it a good hospital? I loved Lakeside and was looking forward to delivering there again, but if Deaconess is just as good and more affordable I guess we'll do that. Thanks! I'd appreciate any opinions or suggestions!

Hi, I Iive in Piedmont too! :)
My sister had her baby at deaconess and she loved it there. I liked it but I have had all of mine at Mercy and I LOVE it there!!! I don't know about the cost, She is on tri-care and I think they pay for everything. I would think they would be a little more affordable. But I'm not sure.
Sorry, I'm not much help.

Strike 3....I also do not have any info on the cost. I delivered their 10 years ago and do not remember. I did have a top notch experience and the staff/nurses were wonderful!

I'm not much help on the cost but just wanted to say my SIL delivered at Deaconess and said it was a great. I would call the business office give them your insurance info, copay, etc. and see what they charge. Also, if you are paying upfront they will often give you a discount or reduced 'cash' rate. Just tell them you need their 'best deal'. Best of luck!

I had my children in Alaska and do not think that is an excessive amount. My total bill(before insurance) to have my kids were about $10,000-$11,000 each. You have to remember that medical prices have gone up considerably over the last few years. You can always check another hospital. It is possible that the employer you get insurance from has changed the coverage to alleviate the employers part of the cost since the last time you had a child. Lots of reason the cost is more than it was before.
