On her second birthday, my daughter got the mist, first round. 100.5 fever afterward for a bit, but nothing unexpected.

A baby can't get the mist. There was swine flu going around at my house, but my daughter never got it, even though it takes 21 days for the vaccine to work. I plan to get the vaccine for the baby once he is old enough (3 mos. now).

my sister got her four kids the vaccine ten days ago. two are fine, the other two became very ill immediately afterward. the one recovered after 5 days, the other is (as i type this) still very sick and in the doctor's office for the 3rd time. he's been sick for 8 days now. throwing up, fever of 102, feeling awful, etc. hopefully, he won't need to be hospitalized. :( anyhow, those are two reactions for you.

Hi J.. I think this is SUCH a personal decision. Even my family practitioner said everybody has to do their best to do the research and figure it out. He got one for himself but not his own kids because he feels it hasn't been tested enough. No one in my family is getting one, and I have a 3 year old in preschool and a 4 month old at home. I have asthma, too. We are just doing everything we can to boost our immune systems (probiotics, multi-vitamins, dha, and chewable congaplex, eating well, and LOTS of hand washing)...there really is a lot of awful stuff in the vaccinations as far as I can tell from everything I've read, and that stuff scares me more than the flu. Just my opinion. Good luck!

Hi, I do not have a baby, yet I have a 4 year old that received the h1n1 shot. He is fine and it has been 2 weeks. Also, I received it this week and have not had any side effects. For me, it was that I was more fearful of the flu than the vaccine. I would go with what you pediatrician says. Whether they are around other children or not does not make a difference. You can use the reverse argument as those children in daycare are already immune to many virus' as they are constantly round them.
Good luck!

I am a Grandma with a son that has sole custody of his 3 & 5 year old boys and he has asked what I think he should do. I'm as baffled as many moms are however, most of the medical profession insists that these little ones get protected. I think you can only trust your child's doctor and do as he recommends. I will probably recommend to my son that our little ones get protected since they are in Pre-school and Kindergarten and around lots of children daily.

My son is nine months and we were asked by our pediatrician if we wanted our son to have both shots. I'm really not sure about either, but especially not sure about the H1N1 shot. I don't think there's been enough testing done for side effects, so I'm extremely reluctant for our baby to get it.
However, I'm a stay at home Mom so our baby doesn't mix with lots of children and he doesn't have any other siblings. I'm careful about where I take him and friends tell me if they're feeling unwell before they see him. I wash my hands often and we all eat a very healthy diet. So I'm hoping we'll be fine......fingers crossed.

I hope you reach an answer that's right for you and your baby. All the best.
