I am going to the Atlantis in the Bahamas in March. We have never been, and may not get there again. My kids are 7 and (will be) 10 - both boys. Any must do's or see's so that we don't miss out?

What can I do next?

What a great age for your vacation there. I have been there for work conferences, sans kids, but the pools, waterslides and aquarium are awesome. If you check out the website, it will review the property and the side trips. We went fishing one day and on a sunset cruise one night which were a lot of fun....just depends on what you and the kids like to do. Have fun!

Definately go on one of the snorkeling cruises. It was amazing when we went, and look forward to taking our kids there, when they get a bit older. The hotel has a great acquarium too. The straw market was interesting, very crowded, and too me a bit overwhelming, but we were told we must go. Bring some anti-itch spray (benedril is great) There is a sand flea issue in the Bahamas (I don't know if there is a sun/bug lotion you can use that will stave off the little buggers, but you might want to look into that). They are similar to our mosquitos, but drove me nuts, as I am allergic to any bitting bugs. Please don't be alarmed about them if you haven't heard of them. Just be sure to brush off the sand outside as that is where they reside. You want to bring as few into your room as possible.

All in all, we had a wonderful time. Don't forget your passports! And have fun.

Hi B.,

Atlantis is wonderful! Are you going when school is in session? If so that will greatly reduce the number of families that will be there, a good thing! It can get very crowded. There is so much to do on site that you won't need to go into town. I am usually a "see the local action" kind of gal, but there really isn't that much to see. Enjoy the resort. Your boys will love it. I would bring some dry snacks and pack bug spray. Also there is a lovely restaurant in town called Grey Cliff, a bit expensive I must say, but worth the experience. Not sure you should bring the boys, although you could. Atlantis has babysitting services. Lastly, go over to their sister property The One and Only. It is a wonderful escape from the bustling Atlantis. Make reservations for the restaurant there, very charming. Hope this helps!

Have a great time,
M.

Hey B.! We were there last July and have plans to go back soon! The Dig (in the Royal Towers) is awesome! Your boys will love it. I also recommend the huge slide (sorry, can't remember the name of it). Kids love that too. They now have swimming with dolphins in The Cove which is suppose to be fantastic. I would suggest NOT going to downtown Nassau. We took a ride over there and it was terrible. I would also suggest only eating on property. Someone we were with went off property and got really sick. Have fun!

Hi B.,
I was there a few years back and it is AMAZING! Of course it was without kids, but in all honesty, there are a TON of things to keep you kids busy. The pools, water slides, under water tunnel, are ALL amazing. I'm sure there are kid's programs there as well, however, I don't know anything about them. I never felt like I had to go any further then our own hotel. It was incredible!
Have a BLAST and enjoy!
K. :~)
