Getting Goo off After C-section

Monday I had my baby girl via c-section. When the dr took off the bandage, it left a lot of residue (like when you pull off duct tape). Now my pants are sticking to it, and needless to say I don't need any more pain at the moment. Anyone got any ideas for getting this goop off of me?

What can I do next?

P.,I understand what you are going through cause I had my kids by c-section,and what I did if I wasn't bleeding I didn't wear any underwear for a while. When I was bleeding I would put vaseline on it and fold the underwear down so it wouldn't rub against it so much.Congrates on the baby and good luck with getting better from the c-section too.

Congratulations on your new baby girl!! I think these ladies have covered all the possible options. As for me, I used baby oil and it worked well. It helps to wear loose clothing and going commando when you can. As with most things, this too will past....good luck.

Hi. I would just be patient and maybe seperate the goo from panties and pants with gauze or something. It's too early. Take your time and clean it as you shower daily a little by little. Don't be in a hurry. I had a c.sec 5 months ago. No rush, take your time.

Whatever you do dont "scrub" at it. Be gentle with whatever product you choose. While I ,too, had the sticky stuff, I srubbed just enough to barely open the incision. This, in turn, caused an infection. For three long weeks, I had to pack this "hole" with gauze and clean it out twice a day. It was no picnic!! Not to mention the initial doctors visit where they stuck the incision with numbing needles, OUCH!!! I was told that it was because I was a little to harsh with the cleaning of the "sticky stuff". I was also told that its a little more common than I thought. So just be careful, you certainly dont want to go through what I went through!!!

Baby oil will loosen it, but you'll probably still have to scratch it a bit to get it off. Just keep re-applying the baby oil and working with it....

I know this sounds werid but my mom used goo be gone on my back to take off the gunck left from my bandages after my epidural. I wouldn't use it on an open wound. But it came off just perfect.

Hi Pam
I remember that goo. (I had to have 2 c-sections.) I actually had my husband get it off for me. We took those little alcohol sterile wipes and he just slowly worked it off for me. He actually did a great job. I was still having trouble bending over and I just laid flat on my back and he just gently wiped it off. Just have him go slow. (It didn't hurt me at all.) It sure beat me trying to peel each little go bit off with my finger nails.

Good luck.

well first off Congratulations on your new arrival, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family! Nothing blesses a home like the presence of a child!

The greatest and best thing to get the goo off is baby oil! its gentle and easy to rub on with a cotton ball. you can even try aloe!

Hope that helps.... God Bless!

Congrats!! I had 2 c-sections, had the same thing not too much though, my doctor and the hospital had me put a pad (yeah like the ones you use for your period on the incision (sp?), then put your undies line on top of that then you have to wear the belt/ band or whatever you want to call it then your pants, so i never had the goo that much just a little here and there that i could gently with my loofa or a wash cloth, but you have to do it gently for right now. Try the pad thing though, cause i didnt have that much goo, also are you washing the incision everyday, that helps too. I never tried those other things the other mommys mentioned though. I hope this helps you, enjoy your new baby!!

I had a c-section too and the same thing happened to me.

Depending on where the goo is in relation to your incesion you might try a product called Goo-Gone (this works on all kinds of stuff) or finger nail polish remover.

Good Luck!! Congrats on your new baby girl!!!!
