I am looking for a great place to go during Spring Break for a long weekend. Last year, we went to the Woodlands Resort and it was wonderful. Had fun kid activities such as smores by the pool, movies at night at the hotel, great nature areas and close to the city and we drove in to Houston to see some sites. Anyone have any recommendations for something similar...

What can I do next?

We stayed at the Hyatt Lost Pines just outside of Austin last year.it was great! We are hoping to go every year for atleast a long weekend. So much for the kids to do,the grounds are AMAZING and Austin is a close drive(not to mention the outlets too ;o)
Have fun!

Take a look at the Horseshoe Bay Marriott on Lake LBJ. We stayed there during the 4th last year. They had lots of activities for the kids, an 18 hole putting green putt putt course, 3 swimming pools and even access to a small portion of sandy "beach" at the lake.

Within driving distance you can get to Austin, Fredericksburg and Luckenbach. We went towards Fredericksburg and stopped in Johnson City to see the boyhood home of Pres. LBJ and then stopped at his ranch for a tour of the home land/home, Texas White House, that where he lived during and after the presidency. We did a bit of shopping in Fredericksburg and in Marble Falls also.

We did the Hayatt County inn and spa in San Antonio. I have a three year old and it was a lot of fun. Very close to local attractions, has a lazy river you can take a tube down, a beach area, and several pools to choose from. Good food but a little pricy so I would suggest off peak. Good luck in your search.
