Get Away

I need some advice on planning a quick weekend getaway with my husband. We would like to stay somewhere in the vicinity of Dallas...no more than 3 hours or so away. Any recommendations? Thanks!

Do downtown Dallas. We live in Allen and we frequent Hotel Zaza a lot. Great bar, things to do downtown, nice spa. Same for Crescent hotel, and W hotel.

Find a weekend when there is a concert or ball game you might like at AA Center and go enjoy a weekend of fun, good food, atmosphere!

Other than that, San Antonio is fun, especially on the riverwalk area. We are not into driving if it is over 2 hrs, we hop on Southwest air and we are there so fast.

Enjoy!

If you like history, my suggestion is Jefferson, Texas. Great old homes, antique shopping, the fudge shop (Yum), Marshall Pottery, and more.

If you want to get away away, go to Uncertain, Texas near Caddo State Park about 2 1/2 hours away. There is limited phone and internet and stay at the Hodge Podge cottages of which there are seven to choose from. We try to go every year at least for a weekend. Canoeing, hiking at the Park, bbq, fishing.

Inn on the River in Glen Rose. You will not be disappointed. They are a bed & breakfast. Fabulous!

Hi, I recommend the new Bella Hilton in Rockwall, Texas. The Hilton is at The Harbor area on Lake Ray Hubbard. There are many shops, restaurants and a nice Cinema Theater within walking distance from the Hilton. You can walk along the sidewalk, eat lunch on a restaurant patio looking out over Lake Ray Hubbard, take a ride on a sail boat docked close to the Hilton for $25.00 each, go to a movie, take your picture by the beautiful huge water fountain and more. I think you would enjoy a visit to The Harbor!

www.fallfarm.com -- bed and breakfast in East Texas -- my husband and I went there for an anniversary getaway after our daughter was born, as I didn't want to be too far. it was great!

Not sure what you are looking for, but we rent our lake house at Cedar Creek and it is really nice in the winter. It overlooks the water and has a beautiful fireplace. We don't have cable hooked up during the winter months, but have a DVD and VCR. If you husband likes to fish we have a beautiful dock. It is 75 miles from our home in Plano. The link, if you would like to look at it is: http://www.lakehousevacations.com/page-5212.html. Also, Granbury is nice too. Good luck and have fun.
