10Th Wedding Anniversary Ideas - Aubrey,TX

We'll be married 10 years this May and are definately on a limited budget. I'd like to suprise my husband with getting away without the kids. Spending as little as possible, maybe $300. He's definately a guy and isn't gonna eat up any sort of antiquing or B&B type of activities, he's an indoor, computer type, and the only sports he's really into is martial arts. I'm also pregnant so high adventure isn't in the playbook either. Something just over a weekend that's within driving distance.
I'm sure one of you creative Mommies will be able to help me out:)

What can I do next?

The Grand Hotel in downtown McKinney is small and beautiful. Rick's Chophouse is next door and has AMAZING food for dinner. Get up and go across the street to Spoons for breakfast in the morning. You will have a wonderful time!

Hi L.,
This place looks really neat. I've wanted to stay here just haven't had the chance yet. My inlaws had their RV there and said the owners were really nice. The cabins are what would be good for you and they are about $110 a night. Here's their website - http://www.rv-ranch.com/lost.htm

Have a great time!

I am having my 10th in April. And honestly, I just approached my husband and said..."Hey, you work hard, this is not a year to be dropping a bunch of cash, I love you, let's just go have a nice quiet dinner and promise each other NOT to buy gifts." He was relieved not to have to get creative or spend a bunch on a gift and so was I. I think letting each other off the hook was a great gift. I am actually looking forward to a low key moment to simply reflect on a great ten years, without the pressure to "wow" him with great ideas and a gift he has to end up paying for anyway.

I'll second the comment on Hotel ZaZa. My husband & I did that last summer while the kids were both at summer camp, and we took in a play at Theater 3 on the Quadrangle. It was so much fun playing tourist in our own city! The play that is there right now is great: "Don't Dress For Dinner"...very funny. I laughed so hard I thought I was going to hurt myself! Congrats! We're almost to year 18 ourselves, and I'm really proud of you for continuing to make your relationship a priority.

What about going downtown Dallas to ZaZa or the Crescent hotel. Both downtown, very nice. Nice restaurants. Nice spas. Maybe a couples massage.

ZaZa has themed rooms and often has deals for the weekend. Check them out online. I am not sure what website the Crescent has but if you google them I am sure it will pop up. Great Spas in both places.

Let me start by saying congrats! 10 years is a milestone, esp. in today's times.

We have a timeshare near Tyler and love going there because it's only about an hour 1/2 drive and for us, doesn't cost anything.

They have a referral program where if you go thru their presentation, you get to stay 3 day and 2 nights for free. The tour isn't bad and then you can enjoy all they have to offer for free.

There is a new indoor water park onsite that has a small fee...I think maybe $15 pp. Everything else is free - putt putt golf, archery, the swimming pool, tennis courts, board games, movies in their theatre, volleyball, and more. We even enjoy just walking the grounds. They have the lake right there for fishing as well - the marina has boats you can rent but the paddle boats are free.

If you are interested, you can email me at ____@____.com - all I need is your name and phone number for them to call and set up the apt.

Happy Anniversary!

J.

How about staying at a vineyard? It's relaxing and has that nice B&B feel for you, but there's stuff to see so it's not a precious, girly, antique-y thing that'll drive your husband nuts. :) Messina Hof, near Bryan, has a B&B. You get a tour of the vineyard and winemaking stuff, and it's pretty neat. If he wants to go do something else, you can go visit the Bush Presidential Library at A&M, which is also pretty neat.

I don't have any advice, but I could have written this myself. I am looking for creative things for our 10th anniversary in June...but we are on a tight budget trying to pay off debt. We also have two little boys, and I am pregnant with #3. :) Anyways, just wanted to say HI and hoping that both of us get some ideas through this.

We recently did a weekend get-a-way without the kiddos. We had the hardest time deciding where to go, but ended up going to the Hilton Garden Inn in Granbury (you can google it). It was about $100/nt I think and we got a deal that included breakfast by booking on their website. We don't really like B&B's or antiquing either, but this was good since it was a nice hotel and not too far of a drive. There is not much to do but we really just wanted to spend some time alone and had a great view because the hotel is right on the lake. It was very relaxing! Good luck whatever you decide, and congrats on your 10th...we celebrated our 9th yesterday!
