Hi! My 5th Wedding Anniv. is coming up and I want to do something nice and different for it--I was thinking something low key and romantic for the evening on Saturday and then staying at a nice hotel, sleeping in till 8am (ha ha with twins, THAT is sleeping in!) and then a nice brunch...any recommendations?? Any other thoughts or ideas would be appreciated!! Thanks!! :)

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you so much to everyone's responses! I think that plans might change though :( My mom can't watch our girls anymore overnight and I am quite bummed out about that. So....I think that we will have to do brunch with our girls and we just wont stay overnight the night prior and do a nice dinner instead...thanks again for the wonderful advice! I am going to check in to all the recommendations for a future "getaway" anniv. or not! :) E.

It's the Worthington in Fort Worth and the brunch is fabulous. You will not eat again for days. The hotel is also really nice and downtown FW is so nice and safe - the two of you can walk around and see the sights the night before. If you like seafood, I would recommend Daddy Jack's for dinner. Or there is a rooftop bar close by if you it's a nice night and you just want to sit outside and have a drink. You could also see if there is anything at the Bass Hall - if you haven't been there, it's amazing. All walking distance from the Worthington. Have fun - and happy anniversary!

Like the other referral - Hotel Intercontinental has a wonderful Sunday Brunch and it is a beautiful property. Marriott Quorum has an indoor/outdoor pool, a wonderful breakfast that can be sent by room service and a great weekend rate. There are things to do in Addison such as Comedy Corner, Dueling Pianos, and usually something going on with the city. The restaurants are wonderful and you can have a loud fun to a romantic evening. Most Marriotts offer weekend rates.

Hotel Zaza is pricey but an outstanding property. It is in uptown so you can take a trolley ride, they are quite enjoyable, there are restaurants galore, Hard Rock Cafe and fun nightlife in the area. Hotel Crescent Court is across street and absoutely wonderful. If you want downtown, look at The "W" or Adolphus. The "W" is new and though I have not been there it is highly rated, in the Victory area and at the West End, which encourages walking in downtown and taking trains, horse drawn buggies and much fun. You can also look at the Adolphus which is my favorite. It is an Old World feel with each room different and 2 magnificent restaurants plus a bar/grill. Again, you're near West End. There is so much live music in the area that staying outdoors is a blast and can be very romantic.

By the way, I am a professional event planner so this is why I am very familiar with the hotel industry in Dallas. If you have any questions, feel free to e-mail.

Good luck and enjoy.

Hi, we're coming up on our 14th anniversary, but I remember on our 5th, we went on the Texas Queen river boat on Lake Ray Hubbard off of I-30 in Garland, east of Dallas. It was fun, and would have been romantic, except we had our 3 yr. old with us, lol. There's dinner on the boat, and live music. Here's their website: http://www.texasqueenriverboat.com/ Can't really help you with a place to stay, though. Hope this helps!

The Gaylord usually has a Sunday brunch at their Riverwalk Cafe... it's reasonable and if you ARE taking the kids, it's noisy enough to drown them out! :)

The hotel in downtown fort worth is usually good at a brunch.. is it the Weston? Worthington.... ? it starts with a "W"

The Hotel Intercontential in Dallas also has a Sunday brunch .. and it's a nice hotel off the Tollway. :)

Congratulations! :) Hope you have a great time.

The Gaylord Texan in Grapevine is really a nice place to stay and tour. I don't know about a brunch though. We opted for room service. You could visit their website for any specials and to check out the brunch option.

Happy Anniversary!

I don't know of any B&B's but I do know of a little place, Plum Lake Cabin Rentals, that is 9.5 miles Southwest of Canton, on Hwy 198, midway between Canton and Mabank. I know it sounds like a long drive, but the view and quality time you get when you stay there is well worth the time it takes to get there!! Here is their web address, http://www.plumlake.com/ When my husband and I stayed there for a weekend alone from our 3 children, it was the best little vacation we ever had. We slept most of the time, haha, but did take advantage of the private hot tub that every cabin has. I hope this was of some help and I hope you enjoy your 5th Anniversary Celebration, where ever you choose to go!!!!

What about a bed and breakfast? There are some fairly close to the metroplex. Hubby and I always try to stay at one when we have any couple time, which is very rare ;). Try this link: http://www.bbonline.com/tx/region2.html

We stayed at the Adolphus in Dallas for our 5-year anniversary. It's a beautiful hotel! Of course, depending on how much you want to spend, there is the Crescent Court Hotel! The great thing about being in downtown Dallas, is that you can go see a show or visit a museum during the day and then just go to the hotel!

For our honeymoon night, we actually stayed at the Galleria. It was nice becuase then when we woke up, we strolled around the mall. That might be a nice option.

My husband took me on our "babymoon" (getaway right before our baby came) to the Stonebriar Westin in Frisco. We lounged by the pool, it's a resort style hotel so they will bring you drinks & food and wait on you! And their beds are AMAZING! They're called Heavenly Beds. And then we had the Sunday Brunch that was just as awesome too. I highly recommend it! In fact, we're going back this summer at the same time and taking our baby with us! Have fun wherever you go, and congratulations!
