Formula for 7 Week Old
My daughter is 7 weeks, she started on Similac advance and now is on Enfamil Gentlease. They seem to give her gas. Any suggestions?
So What Happened?™
thanks so much for all the advice. Went to dr. today and she told me to give her Nutramigen, (my son had it too,) happily our insurance will cover it....She also has thrush....

Try Gripe Water. It's great for colic, too. It can be hard to find, but the Health Food stores might have it. I used to get it in the Korean or Jamaican produce stores in Queens, NY. A half teaspoon saved my sanity when my daughter was colicy (sp?) when she was a baby. -J.

You may want to try either ProSobee (Enfamil) or Isomil Advance (Similac). Both are soy and can help with a lot of feeding problems.

Both of my children, 3-1/2 yrs. and 1-1/2 yrs. were gassy babies. I had them both on soy formula along with putting gas drops in their bottles...every single one. Even if they weren't gassy, I knew they would be. I would only use 3 drops/bottle instead of the whole dosage since I was giving it with all feedings. It really seemed to work for us. It didn't matter what bottle I used or if it said it would help with the gas...it never did. But those little gas drops work wonders...I never left home without them!
Good Luck!

Gas was normal for all three of my children. If the baby passes the gas without discomfort try massaging her abdomen in a clockwise motion to help the gas get down and out. My kids thought this was play time and were tickled by Mommy's gentle touch. Congratulations on your little princess.

My son (who is now 2) had trouble with Similac so we tried Enfamil Lipil. This worked for him, and when he had gas or diarreah, we switched to Enfamil® ProSobee® LIPIL® for a week and it always cleared it up. Good Luck!

You can try Mylocon drops but gas just has to pass really. Bounce her gently and pat her back. It's been a while since formula for me, so I don't know if what you are giving her is soy....but if it is not, try a soy formula, it worked wonders with my daughter.

My daughter had horrible gas and constipation problems as an infant. We used Enfamil lactofree which seemed to work best for her. Gas drops are also a lifesaver when they are in pain. Give her belly rubs, do bicycles with her legs, and wait for it to pass, it's really all you can do if switching formulas doesn't help. Are you using good bottles?
Thsi will pass, Good Luck!

Good Start worked wonders for both of my kids when I switched them. They had gas and did not have reg bowel movements. Once I switched (at around 5-6 wks), the ggas went away and they pooped everyday! Good luck.
