well I'm seven weeks pregnant with my second child and once I hit my sixth week I got hit with a bad case of morning sickness. which happened to be completely unexpected because with my daughter I was throwing everything up from week 2. So I thought I had caught some sort of break with this pregnancy, foolishly, lol. While I have only lost my lunch once the nausea just knocks me on my butt, it hits me hardest at nite I can barely get down all my pills and eat so I try to keep little things in my stomach all day and I drink alot of fluids but does anyone have any other suggestions to help me through these next couple of weeks?? it's like every smell or anything I come in contact with just turns my stomach bad! my ob wrote me a script for a medicine but that stuff is too expensive and I'm not puking my guts out enough to take another medication or anything......help! ~ miserable but happy :)

What can I do next?

Try vitamin B6, for some reason this helped me with my morning sickeness, it was recommended to me by my Dr.

Oh you poor thing! Hopefully your labor goes better for you! Have you told your doctor that you cannot afford the script? The reason I am asking, is b/c a lot of doctors will give you free samples (they get from their drug reps) if your insurance won't cover something. In the past, my birth control was not covered by insurance, and my doc. would give it to me every month for free ; ) Wouldn't hurt to ask.
Another thought - do you think it could be your pre-natals that are making you feel sick?? Mine made me feel very sick! I couldn't take them for the first 3 mos - so instead, I took a Folic Acid pill and Flintstone vitamin! (LOL - that's all I could handle though!)
Hope you feel better soon!

The medication that was prescribed may likely have been zophran. It can be a lifesaver for some, but it does come with side effects like headaches and constipation. Far more desirable than throwing up, though.
A cheap and effective treatment for nausea is to supplement with your B vitamins, namely B6. It works wonders. Don't just rely on what is already in your prenatals. Also- taking the vitamins at night when your stomach will likely be on empty soon is not helping. You might want to play with trying it at a different time or even going to a chewable. They have prescriptions, but we will even let flintstones pass if they make life easier for the mom.
There is a condition called hyperemesis gravidum, and there are actual online foundations to help people like you.
my best!

When I was pregnant with my 2nd, my nurse suggested lemon drops (the hard candies) to help with morning sickness. It really helped me maybe it will help you out too!

Good luck! :)

I don't know if this will help you or not but I took my pills before I ate anything. That way they were at the bottom. So they weren't sitting on top of my stomach. And also my Dr told me to take B6 and 1/2 of a unisom pill that way I could get a goods night rest without having to get up and get sick. It is safe to take. Because when I was inlabor ( not far enough to deliver) they gave me sleeping pills to take. It helps. It will take your body a few days to adjust. Hope this helps!

I'm guessing since the meds your doc prescribed are too expensive, that it's Zofran. My ob prescribed Kytril for me. works great, covered by my insurance. :) I know it's sucky. Anything with real ginger in it may help. I even took ginger capsules. Also try a coke! back in the day, cola syrup was used as an anti-nausea drug.

Hey S.- I feel your pain, I had horrible nausea and the only thing that worked was Nux vomica. It's a homeopathic remedy that you can get at Zerbos and maybe Your Better Health stores. It is completely safe and you can take as much as you need, all you do is drop it under your tongue and let it disolve.

It works if you use it as needed.
Hope you get relief

Well, I just went through what you did! I sucked it up and bought some of the expensive medication. However, I did not buy the whole thing. I only bought ten pills. I used them on days that were REALLY bad, and/or days that I knew I had lots to do that I couldn't get through otherwise. The pills (I had a generic of Zofran) really did work for me. Good luck!

The thing the helped me the most was to eat little snacks throughout the day. As long as there was something on my stomach, I was okay for the most part. I also want to encourage you to eat as healthy as you can...stay away from lots of sugar, caffeine, and grease. Hope the nausea gets better!

I used peppermint candies. They worked for me. Also I've heard that ginger tea and things with ginger are a natural way to settle your stomach. Keep eating alittle all the time. Avoid greasy or high sugar foods. The healthier you eat, the better you will feel. And try to lie down and rest a few times throughout the day even if only for 10min. Lavender lotion also helped calm the "urge" for me. Hope you feel better soon!

I had a similar issue with wanting to die from about week 6 to just after week 13. What worked for me, much better than the script from the doc, was Propel Fitness Water (grape was my favorite). It has a high does of Vit B6 which is likely what is in the medication that was prescribed to you. Made me feel 1000 times better.

hi,
my name is K. and i am a mother of a 10mth old boy. i had the worst morning sickness for a couple of weeks when i was pregnant. it was coming out all places. i couldn't hold anything down and i became dehydrated. my doctor gave me a perscription for zofran and he gave me some samples. it was very expensive like $10 a pill but it was worth it. after i started taking it i was fine within 3-4 days. maybe your doctor could give you some free samples if you ask. i hope you feel better :)

Hi S.! Well...I can certainly sympathize with you! I've been through it 4 times! I have 2 boys and 2 girls. Let me tell you the only thing that helped me with the constant nausea was carbonated drinks. The carbonation seemed to help my stomach. It didn't take it away, but I surely took the edge off. With my 4th child I lived on coke slurpees at 7-eleven. Every day I would go in and get myself a slurpee(not a giant one, but medium size one) The lady at the counter got to know me real well! I would sip it slow, and I would be able to carry on with my day. My nausea was soooo bad I even had to switch my shampoo because the smell made me throw up. The funny thing about me living on slurpees was that my son was born at 7:11 in the morning! I hope this advice helps you! Good luck to you!
L. :)
