Ok ladies - This is my first Christmas that I will be "on my own" (dinner-wise). I am cooking a small 5 lb glazed ham. I need to know how to do it since I am *clueless*!

I know I could hit Google. But I figured I'd come here first.

So how do you cook a ham?

Oh, the one I am making is boneless, by the way.

TIA!

Merry Christmas :)

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

There were instructions on the underside of the sticky label. Those sneaky bastards! Ha! Thanks everyone. :) Hope everyone's day is going well.

15 min per pound on 325.
Just made a Boats Head Sweet Slice boneless ham last night!
I mixed brown sugar ans a little orange/pineapple juice & brushed it over the scored-with-a-knife ham.
You're just warming it--not cooking it, so you really can't mess it up.

Read the instructions for the glaze but its usually 20 minutes per lb on 325 covered with a little water in the dish.

If it is boneless, it is probably already 'cooked' and just needs to be heated and the glaze applied. If the glaze came with the ham, it should have instructions with the glaze.

1) hams are already cooked/smoked... So relaaaaaaaax. :). You're just reheating the sucker and glazing it or adding pizazz.

2) most people i know steam .. An inch or so of water in a pan, tinfoil to cover, low gmheat (325-350) and then glaze near the end (once you take the tinfoil off!) and crank the heat the last 5 minutes to caramelize the honey/brown sugar.

For a ham like that, I always cook it in the crockpot. I pour some honey on the ham and add pineapple...Yummy.

We just bought a foreclosure home-so money is TIGHT this year.
The built in oven is leaking gas so we disconnected it. Instead of busting out custom cabinetry I gave my oven away.
So, I plan on making our ham in the crockpot and the sides in a roaster oven.
I'm going to score it, mix brown sugar, orange juice, and pineapple juice. Layer some on bottom and pour the rest on top. Attach pinnaple slices to the ham, cover with foil and cook on low for about 4 hours.
As everyone else said-all your doing is warming it up.
I don't google recipies. I go to allrecipies.com search what I want and read reviews to see how other people tweak it.

I am making ham for dinner tonight. I just put it in a roaster and in the oven with about an inch or two of water. My family likes gravy so I do not put any glaze on the ham. If you add pineapple juice it does take a lot of the salty flavor out of the ham but then it's all in the gravy making it inedible.

Then I am making whipped potatoes, a veggie, and a salad. Very easy and really good. The ham will make great sandwiches or can be diced into scallapoed potatoes, or fried with eggs later in the week.

Enjoy.

The only thing you need to do to it is heat it entirely throughout. It is likely already cooked fully.

I always put mine in a cake pan or lasagna pan then cover that with heavy foil to seal in the moisture. Then I heat it for several hours in a low heat over. Maybe 250-275. Not enough to make it cook fast or overcook, just enough to get the internal temp up where you need it to be.

If you put brown sugar on it be prepared to know this, brown sugar can catch fire and blaze. If the oven is too high and the sugar doesn't get moist enough then it can actually blaze flames into the stove...did this with a meal once. Scared the frat guys I was house mom for.
