Hi Moms,
My cousin is getting married next year and she's looking into making some personal favors for the guests. She recently went to a wedding and the favor they got was a personal CD of the couples favotire songs. Any ideas? Thank You-A.

My all time favorite wedding favor idea was when they put a lottery ticket in a glassine envelope with a penny at each spot on the plate and then they were sealed with a sticker that said "Lucky in Love" Sue and Bob August 24th 2008. It was soooooo cute. They had purchased the lottery tickets at valentines time when they have the love one out and had collected pennies with the year they were married. People LOVED it!!!

Hi A.:
My daughter got married a couple of years ago and I have several posts under my name for wedding planning. I think quite a few people responded to a question like this that I asked back then so you are welcome to take a look at their responses. I really went nuts thinking of something that was unique as table favors for my daughter. I could email you photos of the favors if you would like.

We spent a lot of time and a good amount of money on this. We ended up buying some really yummy gourmet type cookies from a shop in Woodstock IL I can give you the name.. and the shop owner did the boxing and ribbon tying and attached the card we created to it..

..WE stamped a leaf design on a card, they were really very pretty and I was very proud of them..

and having said that. I have to tell you I was SO upset that many of the guests left the favor at the table..okay.. I don't remember the exact number.. so maybe it was like 30?? maybe more.. out of 140 or so,. I can't remember and granted maybe they were GUYS or something. But I know we spent at least $2.00 a box for each favor. I mean they looked absolutely beautiful on the tables and added so much color and we did compliments on them..
but looking back.. gee.. I don't know if I would invest in a favor again. If and when my other daughter gets married.. I just don't know if we will go to the trouble.
if you can produce something that is cute and affordable.. kudos to you!

I never keep the wedding favors from other people's weddings, what am I going to do with a fancy box? I'm in favor of edible ones!

We did custom fortune cookies at ours. We made funny fortunes and put them in the cookies along with our wedding date. Then we dipped the cookies in melted chocolate and added sprinkles that matched our wedding colors. People had a great time reading the funny fortunes and eating the cookies!

My hubby & I are really into wine, and found this wonderful winery down in FL. that does small, personalized wine bottles as favors. They are able to take any photo you'd like as the label on the bottle & then will do wording on it. We used a beautiful photo we took while in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico of the sun setting over the ocean & then did some fancy gold wording on it. Turned out very nice & everyone loved the keepsake!

Love the idea of the lottery ticket from your previous post. I also have really enjoyed getting CD's. I've received a couple. Even attaching a few chocolates in tulle is cute.

My sister made a three-pack of assorted (larger) elegant truffles. You can vary the filling, from anything like fruit cream, buttercream, caramel, chocolate cream/choco-mint, and you can dip in milk chocolate or roll in cocoa, powdered sugar, etc.... Depending on how many people are going to be at the reception, depends on how many you have to make and a few sets of hands help the job go smoothly. People raved about the truffles and she made them for a group of 200. They were decadent and she made sure that she used a very good quality chocolate - not as expensive as Valrhona but definitely quality chocolate.

Good luck.

Hi A.,

I've seen little trees in vials, chocolate bars (the couple lives in Switzerland) and other fun ideas. I ask this though, after you've paid for a wonderful evening out - good food, music, open bar, etc. - is it really necessary to give them a gift, too? It escapes me since you shell out a LOT of money for a wedding, you're starting a new life together and your friends & family know you're probably broke, which is why they generally give cash. Obviously some people aren't broke, and kudos to them. This is just my two cents. Sometimes I just think our society takes its obsession with Martha Stewart-like perfection a bit far. Most of the time I can't even remember what they left on the table, but I do carry away memories of a very nice time.

Have fun!
D.

p.s. I loved the idea of the lottery tickets!
