Family Portrait in Wichita

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good place to get a family portrait taken? We've gone to Portrait Innovations several times and were pleased with the pictures, but not the high pressure sales tactics. Our children are 9 years, 7 years, and 5 years old.

What can I do next?

I definitely recommend Capturing Time Photography. She's a little ways out in the country and does an amazing job. She's done family, maternity, birth to one yo pictures for us and I've loved every one of them! Her name is Joylena. She will give you a CD so you can print your own, or you can choose and she'll have them printed for you. Very high quality pics and photoshopping. Tell her K. Gray sent you!

Hi S.,

I think no matter where you go, there's always going to be someone trying to sell you something. Big businesses are in a great position of selling things to customers that they didn't intend on buying...especially when it comes to childrens photography.

We've tried Portrait Innovations, Sears, and Penney's and always the same outcome. I only want a certain amount of pics for friends and family, and I always get a TON of pictures that just sit at home in the package it came in.

I would suggest going to someone who works for themselves. Someone who could tailor to your needs. I also would suggest looking in the phonebook and calling some of the numerous photographers and asking them if they can do whatever it is you're needing. Ask if they can send you examples of their work, or a website, via email so you can get a closer look at their work.

I take photos, but not at a professional level. I would say mine are "professional snapshots". I do have an eye for detail, but not all the fancy equipment. I own a digital Canon Rebel EOS that I got about a year and a half ago. I absolutely LOVE it!! I intentionally got it to make a profit by taking photos for people, and right now it's just being used for a lot of church activities and functions, which I really don't mind. And also, of course, for my family.

Hope somewhere in all my blabbering, I helped answer your question. Finding a good photographer is like trying to find a good doctor!! lol

Good luck!! ls

Derby is getting a new studio called Clix. It's on Rock and looks like it's ready to open any day. I have heard that it is similar to portrait innovations in that you get the pictures the same day but I know nothing about the environmnet. But, I'm ready to try it soon!

Sears at Towne West does a good job for my kids and now my grandkids. I also know that Stevie Williams is a photographer on his own and he does a good job too. I don't have his phone number but can I get it for you or you can reach him at University of Phoenix which is ###-###-####. I have seen his work and it was excellent! I don't remember what his prices were, but I know they weren't bad! My husband and I are wanting new pictures and he will be the one doing them for me!!
