Experience with Laprascopy?

My husband and I had unexplained infertility. After Clomid, injectables, and IUI's he suggested we have lap surgery to see if there was a visible problem. A year before I had the dye test to check for open tubes...they were open.

So, I had the surgery done and it was fine! No recovery time at all! But, mine was just one incision in the belly button. I had endometriosis and my tube was blocked (it blocked itself in the year since the dye test). My experience was great. AND after I had it I did a round of shots and got pregnant...he is now 2 years old.

I had a lap in 1998 b/c of endo. I had constant pain and pain with sex. The lap helped bunch with the endo, but did not cure it for me. (We found out just over a year ago why when I had my hysterectomy, I had endo in the walls of my uterus). The procedure itself was actually very easy and recovery was easy also. I would strongly recommend my dr, he was my only gyn that took my pain seriously and did great on all my surgeries (I had 3 with him, lap, removal of cancer and hysterectomy) I don't have his number off hand, but his name is Alvin (Al) Gebert and he is at Presb Plano.

Dr Howard in Carrollton is a Reproductive Endocrinologist and he is awesome at this procedure. I wasn't having pain with my severe endomet but I couldn't get pregnant. You should have a consult with this Dr. he is a genuis in this field!!!!

First, I am so sorry you are having this trouble. I went through this for roughly 10 years and it can be very painful. When I had it, laparoscopy wasn't an option in Dallas and I started on BCP, Male Hormones (avoid this if possible) and then went to Houston for the laparoscopy. It did finally make it's way to Dallas and in all, I had three procedures over the course of several years, ending in early 90's. The procedure was relatively easy, a little discomfort but nothing too bad, and it worked for years. It did come back but again, the procedure was easy and it enabled me to get pregnant. Then I was one of the lucky ones, after I had my daughter, I never had it again and that was 15 years ago.

I know women that had the lap and the endo was gone for good. I also know women that had children and would get the endo afterwards. It may or may not get rid of it forever, but I thought it was worth it because I did have so much relief.

The technology has probably come a long way so even easier now. Dr. John Bertrand was great and is in Dallas out of Presbyterian Hospital. Good luck.
