Essure vs Tubal Ligation

Has anyone had the Essure procedure done? I've been reading up on it and would really like to hear from real mom's that have had either procedure. I know it's done in office and you're awake the entire time, that can't be comfortable!

What can I do next?

Congrats on you baby boy due in August.

I had a tubal done in April of 06. I chose that procedure over the Essure because I didn't want to wait three months to know if the procedure worked and have to take birth control in the meantime. Also the whole in office without general anesthesia kind of got to me. Maybe I just took the easy way out. Knock me out and wake me when it's over. It went well and I was only sore for a couple days. My doctor went in through my belly button so I don't even have a scar. If that is a concern. My periods are the same as always and I don't have any mood swings or anything like that.

Which ever procedure you choose you're going to have some pain and/or discomfort. Choose the one that works for you.

Good Luck

I had the tubal ligation done in september of 05 after the birth of my fourth child. I also had a c-section and I have not had any problems since then. Nothing has changed for me.

Hi! I work as a transcriptionist at a hospital, and our GYNs insert Essure devices all the time in the hospital, so maybe you should just make an appointment and see how YOUR doctor would do the procedure!!
