For those of you who experienced breast pain/tenderness as an early pregnancy sign in your FIRST pregnancy (like days or so after conception - before you really KNEW your were pregnant), did you also experience this in subsequent pregnancies? Did anyone have "nipple" tenderness, as opposed to full breast tenderness?
I KNEW I was pregnant with my son way before I tested or was late for my period, mostly due to the extremely noticeable change in my breasts. They were extremely tender and swollen for no apparent reason, which was completely out of character for me. I did not even have breast tenderness as a PMS symptom. I just knew.
I know every pregnancy can be very different, but just wondering whether you experienced similar breast tenderness issues with each pregnancy, or if you had tenderness with one pregnancy, but not another... And whether anyone had just nipple tenderness, and not full breast tenderness...
Oh, by the way, I don't think I'm pregnant, necessarily... LOL I suppose it's an unlikely possibility, but far from confirmed! The son I was talking about is 4 1/2 now... :)
I find it interesting what Jennifer F. said... I was wondering about that, whether breast feeding changes the breast tissue in such a way that the kind of breast tenderness felt in a first pregnancy might be different in subsequent pregnancies. It makes sense to me that this might be the case sometimes...
The breast thing was a dead give away with my first pregnancy, but I did not experience any of this with my 2 pregnancies following that. In fact, I had no pregnancy symptoms until after it was confirmed with the other 2. I just assumed my body had already undergone all those major changes the first time, and so it didn't have to do as much the next two times...
I had tenderness with my first pregnancy, but not with this one. The first was extreme tenderness of the whole breast- hurt to go up and down stairs, etc. I don't think I had this at all this time around. Who knows???

During my first pregnancy I had very noticeable breast pain/tenderness. So much to the point where I had to use cold compresses to help ease discomfort.
With my second pregnancy I noticed tenderness closer to my arm pits very early (about 3 weeks along). When I got closer to my second trimester the tenderness was more wide spread and I had an interesting sensation in my nipples, not exactly pain or tenderness. Kind of a tingling feeling. I also noticed during my last pregnancy that my breasts were much fuller (went from about an A cup to a C cup in matter of about a month) compaired to my first pregnancy. By the time I reached my second trimester my breast were huge and very uncomfortable and the tenderness came and went frequently. Hope this helps. I definitely had breast/nipple tenderness in my first pregnancy within about 3 weeks. I've had some soreness before periods, but it was really intense. I'm 9 months now and I'm still having some pains but they're more infrequent and not so much a lingering pain like in the 1st trimester.
With my first I did have typical breast tenderness but it was not really painful, just tender. I'm pregnant with my second now and was still nursing my son through my first trimester and most of my second trimester. I had to start weaning him because nursing suddenly became very painful when I was about 10-12 weeks pregnant. Since he's been totally weaned (about 3 weeks now) my breast have started feeling the same kind of tender as I felt in early pregnancy with my son.
I had breast tenderness and tiredness w/ both pregnancies; however, I was 19 when I had my son and the tenderness was extreme and started early with some tiredness in the late afternoon and later at night. With my daughter (I was 34), the tenderness wasn't as bad but the tiredness was a lot worse. I suspect some of the difference had to do w/ my age difference.
i had that problem i would take a home pregnancy test in about 3 weeks to see what the results are. i know my nipples were very tender and i went without a bra cause it hurt so bad
I had major breast tenderness and swollen breasts immediately with my first son. I had none of those symptoms with my second son. They are 2 years apart. I asked my doctor about this because it concerned me and she said that happens, every pregnancy is different and it may also be caused by the fact that I nursed my first son for 13 months and got pregnant a few months later and the breast tissue is different after breast feeding.
