Do You Know of a Family Truly in Need?

Hi All,

My family and I would like to provide for another family (or two) this season that is TRULY in need. We would like to provide dinner and gifts. When I say "truly in need," it means not a family where the kids are wanting American Girl dolls or Playstations. My children don't even have these. By no means are we a wealthy family or have money to splurge. We simply want to help out a family that doesn't have the means this season. I remember what it was like as a kid to have nothing. We barely had a roof over our heads, food to eat, and clothes on our backs and that was about it. Yes, just the bare necessities. =) And it wasn't just during the holiday season...it was my whole childhood life.

So if any of you know of a deserving family in need this season please contact me as soon as possible via mamasource. Please tell me why you think this is the family we should provide for. If you can include the ages of the children as well.

I am well aware of the community storehouse and other charities that we can donate to, please don't advise about these organizations. Some families don't turn to them for help. We never did.

Thanks a bunch!

I have a lady that goes to the same daycare my baby goes to that is in need. She has lost her home and car within the last 3 months. She has asked me if i had a coat that her daughter could have. The only thing i know that she needs is clothes for her daughter. I am guessing that she needs help in other areas( grocery, gas) as well. She is 14 months old and wears 18-24month clothing and size 5 1/2 in shoes.Anything would be greatly appreciated.

Well actually Mission Arlington will give you a family that's come to them in need already. You tell them what size family you're willing to help (family with 3 young kids, for example) & they will give you a sheet with their names, ages, & Christmas wish list. You can even deliver the gifts personally to the family if you choose with a Mission Arlington social worker going with you to a meeting spot. My husband I do it every year, and it is rewarding to know exactly who you are helping & to wish them a Merry Christmas in person.

I know of a person who is really hurting this XMAS in more than just financials. This lady just lost her husband to brain cancer about a month ago. This couple has 7 school-aged (one as young as 3 with special needs) children between them and he did not have life insurance so times are really tough emotionally and financially. You are so generous to offer to help a family. Please contact me if you would like her contact information. Thank you for offering your kind heart and generosity.

B.,
What a thoughtful person you are! Especially teaching your girls about giving! I do know of a family (many for that matter) that are truly in need. They immediately came to mind when I read your request. The mom is in her mid 30's and she has 3 children. Her husband was hurt in an accident about 10 months ago and stays in a wheel chair and can't work. Shortly before his injury she had a baby boy. She has a daughter that's probably in the 3rd grade, a baby girl that's about 2 years old and a baby boy. She is so faithful to load up all those kids every Sunday morning and take them to church as well as on Wednesday nights. She can't work because they can't afford for a day care. She always has a smile on her face and is so positive but I know they are struggling terribly. Not too long ago someone broke the back window out of their car. I told someone about the insurance deductible that she couldn't afford and they gave me the $ to help her. SHe was so extremely grateful. Then about 2 months ago there was a huge fire in a field behind their house that was spreading fast. My husband and I went to check on them. She was in the backyard coughing through the thick smoke watering down their fence, yard and house while the babies were in the house crying and the dad could do nothing. She works so hard and I know Christmas is going to be such a challenge for them. If you want to know more I would be glad to give you specific sizes of clothes and maybe toys.

Thank you!
J.

The radio station KLTY, 94.9, has a Christmas wish program you could take a look at. They go to the Chick Fil A's in the DFW cities and have books with the needs of many families. I bet there is lots of info about it on their website. God bless you for doing this!

What a blessing you are B.. I don't know of a family specifically, but I know you'll find the RIGHT one.

Bless you too!

RST, Inc. works with families that have been displaced. Most of them don't have any support network - not relatives, etc. They have offices in both FW ###-###-#### Layla is the contact person and DLS ###-###-#### Cindy is the contact person.

I thought of doing the same and I like you are by no means wealthy but would be willing to help a family in need. I live in Fort Worth, Texas. Where do you live???? Thinking that if maybe if you lived close we could get together and provide. I only saw this because I decided to look at my spam stuff instead of deleting it. Anyway let me know. Be blessed!!

I think that it is just awesome what you are doing!
