Direct Tv- Internet
Good morning one and all,
We are considering getting rid of our cable. What I don't understand why does the cable company offer better deals to new customers
and not the (you've been with us a while customer) we'd like to keep you deal.
Anyway we like direct tv so far....but what do direct tv owners use for internet service?
How many of you still keep your land mine phones? We are in a hugh discussion, should we keep it or not?
I know every home is different.
Thank YOu aas always you ladies and every now and then men are great

We've had DirecTV for over 8 years now and LOVE it. No complaints at all. For our internet, we still have a land line phone through AT&T and have DSL internet through them. My husband would like to ditch the land line, but I'm not ready to go there yet. I just worry that I won't remember to keep my cell with me ALL day as I move through three floors of my house and I'm afraid I'd miss a call from school, the doctor, etc. I've heard that you can just get the DSL service through AT&T without having a land line phone with the account, but I have not researched it myself so I'm not sure if that is true. At any rate, the bundling deals through Comcast are tempting, but I don't think we'd ever leave DirecTV. Their HD programming is far superior and I think the satellite signal delivers a better picture. I have no proof, just that I've seen a cable signal and DirecTV signal on the exact same TV and could notice a difference. I know other factors (such as the cords you choose to use) contribute to the picture, but I have no desire to switch. Hope that helps a little. Good luck!

Oh yeah, I have a videophone that is cheaper than what I was paying for local long distance and now my parents and grandma see my kids in real time!

YES I SAY that too. WHY IS IT THAT THE CABLE COMPANY offer better deals to new customers? Why do they not appreciate their customers who have been around a long time? I am thinking they should change this or a lot of people might want to look elsewhere.
Don't really have an answer but I am happy being able to vent.
We are probably going to get rid of our home phone, too. It is SOOOOO expensive from this same cable company and we get about three calls on it a month. Someone however convinced me we need a land line. And I suppose it is good but we have cellulars, too. Just keep those charged.

Directv is now with AT&T. We just switched over last month from Comcast who we've been with for YEARS. Frustrated with the same thing, that good deals can only go to new customers. They didn't even care to try to keep us when I asked what we could do to add some services for a good rate until I called to officially cancel once AT&T was set up. I knew we were overpaying with Comcast, but dreaded changing email and all. The first year rates on bundles are EXCELLENT and even full price is cheaper than comparable full price at Comcast by about $5/month, so very comparable. Our next door neighbors have had Directv and AT&T for years and years and have always been happy with it. They were going to change to comcast and said that was just a joke, since the comcast people coming out didn't even know what they were doing (on top of what they dealt with, Comcast accidentally disconnected ours for a week when they installed the next door neighbors...didn't even give us a discount for the days of service lost and weren't able to get out to fix THEIR mistake for several days while we went without service for that time!) Getting started was a bit of a pain since we weren't in the AT&T system for dsl, so that took a while to switch over, but their customer service still in talking with a couple ignorant reps was TONS better than comcast. Comcast never really seemed to care about it taking a week to address issues while AT&T/Directv could get a tech out within 24 hours. As far as phones, we had just cell phones for about 8 years and just now went back to having a land line soon after we changed to smart phones with the whole data package. We had a third cell phone as a spare for when we had a babysitter, backup for my home business, one that was always in the same place so all would know where it was in case of emergency and such and the $40/month it became for the third non-used backup cell-phone to have all those features that went unused was just way overkill. So we went for the land line as the cheaper, more practical for us option. But the 8 years we had just cell phones worked just great. Never had a problem with it at all. We've been with USCellular (formerly primeco) all that time and it's been fabulous in terms of service and price. Now we just have a phone number that if we can pass it on to somebody else, we get out of the contract we had (of course that was the ONLY one of the 3 still under contract, oh well). Best wishes to you in deciding, I know how frustrating it can be, having just done all those comparisons!
