Daycare and Pediatrician Recommendation for the Eagle Rock/South Pasadena Area??

I'm due with my first child (a little boy) in June and will be able to stay home with him only through the end of September. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good daycare facility as well as a trusted pediatrician in either HIghland Park, Eagle Rock, Glendale, South Pasadena, or the very western part of Pasadena (Old Town)? All my friends with kids either live in other cities or chose daycare facilities and pediatricians a bit far from home. Thanks so much!

What can I do next?

Congratulations on your new baby! I am a teacher too, and very picky, and two other teachers/administrators use a wonderful woman who runs a daycare out of her home in Glendale. I don't know if she has any spots open, but her name is Christina (Smart Start Daycare) and her number is ###-###-####. I also have a good pediatrician in Glendale (right around the corner from daycare, which is convenient for those after-work appointments), his name is Harry Huang and his number is ###-###-####.

Mark Powell at Rose City Pediatrics in Pasadena (near Huntington Hospital) is my kids' pediatrician, and I really like him and the other three doctors in the office--Drs. Gokey, Schlundt and Wang.

As for daycare, my kids go to Glendale Community College Child Development Center which we love, but they have to be 15 months old to start there. Before that my kids went to La Canada Presbyterian Church Infant Care Center at 2 months old to 15 months old. We loved that place too. They both have waiting lists, but GCC is harder to get into.

I recently toured Kids Klub on Raymond Avenue in Pasadena, and the place is great. My friend's son goes there and they love it. You should check it out.

Good luck.

I couldn't find a ped who supported my decisions so I've been taking my kids to http://www.paracelsusla.com/index2.html. They are in no. Pasadena, above the 210fwy. I live in West Covina and don't mind the drive. I can't think of the names of daycares in Eagle Rock, sorry! I know Amy's Playground on Mission St in so Pasadena has a few fliers up.

Hi, J.,

I don't know if you are willing to drive a little north to La Canada, but DESCANSO PEDIATRICS (1346 Foothill Blvd # 201 La Canada; ###-###-####) is one of the best pediatricians' offices I've been to. About 2 years ago, when I moved to La Crescenta, I also asked for a pediatrician recommendation on Babycenter.com and other baby-related websites. I consistently got DESCANSO PEDIATRICIS as a recommendation and I've been very pleased with the doctors (esp. Dr. Kathleen Smith and Dr. John Rodarte). They know how to care for and handle my inquisitive, active 3-year-old daughter as well as my just-turned-1 sweet son. I never had any problems getting appointments right away for any sick visits as well as well visits.

I hope this helps and I hope you find a good pediatrician soon!
