Hi L.,
What an exciting experience!! I was personally adopted and was understand what a miracle that is. Congratulations! Anyhow, we live in Glendale and researched like crazy. We finally decided on Happy Khanna. She was also my husband's first daughter's pediatrician..15 years ago. Good luck with everything!!

Check out Glendale Pediatrics on Chevy Chase. Great doctors. If Dr Hartstein has returned from maternity leave, she's the best. Kids love her and she's very attentive. My daughter has some RSV issues early on and they were very quick and responsive in her treatment. They have great hospital affiliations in surrounding areas (Pasadena, etc). I don't live in Glendale anymore, my insurance doesn't cover her visits and still I take her back. I really trust them.

Hope this helps. Good luck. Y.

Dr. Gitte Bloom and her colleagues are wonderful. We have a 7 week old and we've been going to Dr. Lauren Lubin who is in Dr. Bloom's practice. They are on Glenoaks, midway between Burbank and Glendale. But, they have a very busy office so be warned!

Congratulations! I don't have a pediatrician to recommend to you, but I do have a website about parenting and adoption to recommend. It's http://www.quantumparenting.com/articles/articles/
It's written by a wonderful teacher, Marcy Axness. ON this page you will find a link to ClubMom where you can speak with other adoptive moms. Marcy teaches parenting classes, has studied adoption widely, and was adopted herself. I've had the opportunity to work with babies adopted from China who had a hard time as young children and have learned a lot from Marcy. It's difficult to understand the life of a baby sometimes and I think she does a great job of helping people understand them. All the best to you! K. F.

When my son was born 3 years ago, Jeremy Shapiro was working at Cedars under an old-timy pediatrician in Beverly Hills. On the morning after my son was born, it was Dr. Shapiro's day for rounds -- in other words my son's FIRST pediatric exam was with Dr. Shapiro. He later moved to Boulevard Pediatrics in Encino. The commute was too far for me and I was sorely disappointed because I'd anticipated Dr. Shapiro would be THE pediatrician for us.

My son was readmitted to the pediatric ward at age 48 hours for jaundice. Dr. Shapiro was sensitive, knowledgable, safe rather than sorry, and was extremely patient and understanding about anxieties of a first time mother. Additionally, Dr. Shapiro was delicate and non-offensive in addressing, whether my son's skin had a yellow hue because of it is his natural pigment (asking me about whether his father is African American)or because my son was jaundiced.

I absolutely loved him!

Hi L.,
I live in Eagle Rock and love our pediatrician who works downtown. The drive isn't too bad, and he is so easy to talk to. He feels like such an advocate for our little baby (who is only 6 1/2 weeks old). His name is Dr. Nakashima and his number is ###-###-####. Good luck and congratulations!
