my daughter was born with beautiful, fluffly curly hair. now that she is almost two years old the curls have grown out and it's straight. I really miss those fluffy curls. I am wondering if those curls will ever come back.
I didn't do anything different to straighten her hair. i just gave her regular trimming and noticed that her hair was growing flatter and more straight. Are her curls going to come back or they come and go depending or her stage in life?
Possibly when she hits puberty. My daughter had stick straight hair. Shen she went thru
puberty curls appeared on her head.
Nope. My hair was curly when I was little. Now, I have to get perms.
Her hair may stay straight until puberty or it may never get curly again. My hair was super straight as a child, very curly in high school and college and is less curly now in my late 30s. My husbands was curly as a baby, straight as a kid and curly after puberty. It tends to run in families, so you may want to ask some relatives about their experience.
Kids hair changes a lot during the first few years of their life. Just because she has curly hair as a toddler doesn't mean she'll hae it when she starts preschool. My daughter had gorgeous spiral curls too, but her hair was stick straight by the time she was 3 or 3 1/2. My son had bright gorgeous blond hair when he was really little, and now it's more of a dirty blonde. So, just part of changes that go on!
Sometimes as the hair grows out the weight of the hair will pull the curls out or loser.. I would suggest maybe putting some layers in her hair. I have naturally curly hair and thats what I have to do. Also, unfortunately sometimes there hair does change as they get older.
If you're lucky it will stay straight. Curly hair is VERY VERY expensive (the least expensive option is about $30 a month, for soft curls that are still glossy you're looking at $125-200 a month, just for product), time consuming (an average time of 1-2 hours per DAY... unless you air dry... which in damp climates can take 48 hours, of course hot sunny climates you're only looking at having a wet head for 3 or 4 hours). All of that is if you don't get "relaxed" (curl is still there but waaaay more manageable) which runs $300 every 2-3 months, or Japanese straightening which runs $800.
There are the other "side effects" of curly hair in addition to the expense and time consuming nature of it...
- only being able to comb or brush it in the shower with a LOT of conditioner
- never having girl bonding time playing with hair
- never being able to have mom run her fingers through your hair, and later not being able to have boys run their fingers though your hair
- Pain. Aka dreadlocks and tangles.
- Pain. Aka finding someone who cuts curly hair without making you look like a clown
Of course learning how to blowdry your hair straight (approximately 1 hour per every 12 inches of hair) lets the finger running thing happen, as well as being able to go to sleep without having to wash your hair the first thing every single morning. BUT blowing it out straight only lasts until your hair gets wet. So the moment you sweat or it rains, no matter how glossy you had gotten your hair, the end result is looking like a lions mane/ Carrottop.
So if you're very very lucky... it will grow in straight, and you can grip about the hour it takes once a month or so to put curls in, instead of up to 2 hours every durn day :) :) :) Now don't get me wrong, I love my ringlets, but I absolutely DESPISE the time and money they take, whether I keep them as curls or blow them out.
who cut her hair. usually with curly hair it has to be cut a certain way to keep it curly... if you cut it real straight.. sometimes it cuts the curl out. it sounds like it will be straight now..
