Complexion Issues (Acne)

I've recently broken out with pimples on my neck, chest and shoulder blade area. I feel like I'm back in high school or something. Last week I got poison ivy on my chest/neck and coupled with the pimples I look a bit scary! Does anyone have any advice on what I could use for the pimples (the poison ivy is going away - slowly...) My skin is somewhat sensitive so I use a lot of neutrogena stuff. I haven't changed anything (detergent, soap, etc...) recently.

What can I do next?

I am sure a thousand have already told you -- buy some Proactiv from tv or go to the website. I am now officially 45, have been using it for at least 5 years and my skin rarely breaks out anymore -- I wish I had this in highschool. It is worth every penny and I am so not a naive tv buyer. Good luck. You will be so happy you did this. A. mom of two boys

Hi J.,

You might be allergic to the laundry soap or other toxic products in your home. Even though you used them for some time, your body might finally react to the ingedients. I recommend switching to nontoxic, environmental products in your home. I could suggest a source which could save you money as well.

Hi J.,

Go nontoxic and fragrance free. According to the Environmental Working Group fragrance can contain up to 100 chemicals in it.

Even neutrogena has chemicals in it. Google the skindeep database to see which skin/hair care are safest.

Lavender oil from Young Living Essential Oils works fast and effectively for acne and many other skin issues. It also is calming for baby, just apply to bottoms of feet.

If you want something natural and powerful check out S.-healingoils.com Apply the lavender topically. You can alternate with the acne prone oily skin serum. These products are not only natural but often miraculous.

The essential oils in the stores are adulterated and often contain impurities. Young Living oils are so purely derived and safe that most plant oils can even be ingested for a variety of conditions.

Any health related questions, feel free to find out which oils to use and how.

Best wishes,

Hmm...I experienced similar years ago. I was advised to make sure that I thoroughly rinsed my hair conditioner out before washing my body with whatever soap I was using. Could be that your hair conditioner happens to be irritating your skin. You may also want to use a soft washcloth to wash as opposed to one of those scratchy plastic poufs until the acne recedes. Counterintuitive I know but the rough stuff including facial masks actually irritates acne. My only credentials are that I've been selling Mary Kay on and off (at the moment, its off) for years since my early 20s (I'm now in my early 40s!) and as I indicated earlier, I had a similar situation years ago. Best!
