Colon Cleanse Reviews?

I hope this is an appropriate question for this site, but I trust the advice of you Moms out there. I'm thinking of trying a "colon cleanse," as I've heard much about how they can make you feel better and "lighter." I was just wondering if anyone has had any first-hand experience with this topic and/or if you have any suggestions or warnings from your experiences. I tend not to trust a lot of the reviews posted all over the Internet -- don't know if they're real or fabricated! Thanks!

I have done dietary cleanses and actual colon irrigation. I agree with another poster that you have to change your diet - you can't just do one cleanse and be fine. That said, I think doing a cleanse is a great way to start out on a new eating path that is good for the gut (like the Weston Price diet, with lots of raw/fermented foods, healthy fats, etc). Some people need a gut healing diet like Body Ecology Diet or Specific Carbohydrate diet to kick start things.

I've heard the same things about a colon cleanse and wanted to try it myself. After much thought, I decided to try an all-natural psyllium seed husk and that worked really well. It's not that pleasant to drink but not terrible either. And the best part is, you can drink it every once in a while if you are feeling "heavy" or clogged and it will help you on your way!

Hi J.,
I have done the Martha's Vinyard detox several time. I love it. I have lost 22 lbs & feel great when I have helathy food in my life. Good luck.

I've heard good things about the "renew life" brand of cleansing products. I haven't tried it yet myself but I believe they are organic. I've seen them at GNC stores. Hope it works for you.

Why start doing this to yourself? Because of something you read or saw on TV? The myth of "sludge" is just that. People have been injured using "colon cleanse" products. Law firms are lining up clients who've been made VERY sick by these dubious claims and rightly so.
It seems like every 20 years or so the cycle of advertising to the public that there's something horribly wrong with their bowels/colon and that it needs to be "cleaned out" starts all over again.

WAKE UP PEOPLE! You are being duped by slick advertising. STOP buying this junk and doing this to your body.
