Don't stress unless he's bleeding or looks infected, oozy, pussy, red and/or very swollen...

Yes breastfed babied poop a lot, though some babies don't that much. Mine did about 1 or 2 a day, and then on formula it was every 2-4 days. I don't recommend formula for anyone, that's painful constipation folks!

Best wishes girl! You're smart to ask advise when things are a bit different then expected!

Your so cute! You have nothing to worry about. As long as the site looks normal not swallon or purple or too re like bloody red or really swallon or ther eis an odor or something comming from it like puss. It is normal. The diapers if you ar ebreastfeeding completely normal. I would not worry about that. I applaud you if you can do nursing school with two kids and your boyfriend will help you. I have 4 kids with one on the way and I want to do nursing and have to wait. Because I don't have the support. I feel for you congradualtion and I hope all works out. Take Care!!

Hi J.,
Everything you have described sounds completely normal. Just keep a gauze pad with Vaseline on the circumcised area for another week or so...until it is completely healed. Keep up the breastfeeding! Nine to twelve bowel movements a day is exactly what a breastfed newborn should be doing! Good luck and congrats!

I had my son 3 years ago now so I don't clearly remember the circumcision. I do know that there are different ways the pediatrician's can circumcise so not everyone's advice will be the same for you. If he seems fine and it looks fine then I wouldn't be too concerned. Does your pediatrician's office have a nurse on call that you can ask questions like that to? You could just inquire about that as well as the bowel movements. BUT I would definitely say the bowel movements are normal. Especially for a breast fed baby. And they're probably yellow right?

I didn't circumsize my son, so I don't know if that is normal or not. Call you Dr. and ask...

The pooping is normal.

I don't remember anything falling off at all after my baby's circumcision (he's a year tomorrow), so I can't help you there. But I can tell you I nursed, and EVERY time he nursed, he pooped, without fail! Lots of poopy diapers with a newborn!

I have 3 boys...all circumcised per daddy's request (all these people in favor of intact boys should ask the men...they wouldn't trade being circed)...anyway, it sounds normal! Also, the pooping is normal too...as long as you are seeing wet diapers, you know baby is hydrated!

Congrats!

Cant answere the circumcision question..

Breast fed babies poop every time they eat.. It is normal.
they will continue to do this for a month or two..

The poop is runny and this is normal.

They do not have diahrrea.

It is just how breast milk poop is..

I don't know anything about circs,I had all girls, but all the poopy diapers is totally normal for a breastfed baby. Mine were almost every diaper. No worries!

Sounds normal to me...
Just remember to keep the area gooped up with vaseline and keep an eye on it for anything that seems off... (swelling, excessive redness, bleeding etc.)
If you truly are worried about it then you could call the pediatritians office and ask them...
As for the diapers... With babys when you put something in stuff comes out the other side. If your guy is eating about every 2 hours (which is normal for infants) then yes 12 diapers in a 24 hour period is normal. Plus, how many of them are rechanges? (He didn't get all the way done before you changed him and he finished in diaper #2...) :-)
You should be having a check up anyways soon for him so you could always bring it up then with the dr...

Congrats!

I can't answer the circumsission question since I have a daughter...but I can answer the breastfeeding/pooping question.

Newborns poop ALOT. Pooping upwards of 12 times a day is totally normal. That being said, don't be surprised if after a couple of weeks baby, being breastfed, DOESN'T poop alot. Breastmilk has very little 'waste' in it. Babies use just about all of the breastmilk, so it is not uncommon for a breastfed baby to start not pooping every day. (there is nothing to eliminate)

Regardles... it's totally normal for a baby to poop as many times as it eats. Just realize that eventually this may taper off and a breastfed baby may go a day or so without pooping. My pediatrician told me it is even fairly common for a breastfed baby to go almost a WEEK without pooping. If that starts to happen, just keep an eye on it. Feel the belly... make sure it is still 'soft' (and doesn't feel hard like there is something backing up in there.) and watch for signs that baby is really uncomfortable.

Congratulations on the new baby and keep it up with the breastmilk! It's the BEST start to life you can give your little one!!!

Hi J.,
First of all, CONGRATULATIONS on your new bundle of joy!!! As far as the circumcision, everything is perfectly normal. You have to remember that every experience with every child is completely different, and it will be that way for life. There are no two people that will have the same results with virtually anything. With my son, they told me it would within appx. 1 week, and it occurred in 4 days as well. Like the other poster said, just keep an eye on it for any oddities (redness, swelling, etc.) and keep the lubrication on it, as it is still in the healing process. As for the poopy diapers, the same - its perfectlly normal. Everytime a newborn baby eats, he/she will poop! So, if eats eating 10 times a day, you'll most likely have 10 poopy diapers! It sounds like your new baby is perfectly normal, and everything is up to par! However, don't ever hesitate to call your pediatrician's office if you think something is out of whack. That's what they're there for, and "mother's instinct" generally prevails. They'll let you know if you need to bring him in, or if you're just being a bit irrational. Don't ever be embarrassed to call about anything or think you're bothering them - its what they do, and they've heard it ALL! Best wishes to all of you. How exciting to have such a wonderful gift. Enjoy every moment!
