Christmas Game Idea

Hi - Looking for some creative ideas...for as long as I can remember our family has done the gift exchange game at Christmas where everyone brings a generic gift (around $25-$30) and we draw numbers and trade/steal until all the gifts under the tree have been opened. It was a lot of fun for many years and we did it because we did not need to buy all of our family gifts but it was still something fun to do to have that Christmas gift experience. The past few years the fun has dwindled, partly because one family usually trades/steals amongst each other and everyone ends up going home with what they brought. Boring! So I'm trying to think of something else creative to do as a family to replace this. Could be a game we play or some other type of Gift exchange idea. Any thoughts?? We usually have about 12-14 adults that would participate. Thanks for your help!!

What can I do next?

We do something similar to that also since our family has grown due to marriages and kids. We still get something for our parents and gifts for the kids. All the Adults do the Exchange. My dad doesn't like to see us spend money we don't have so we have to bring something in our house and wrap it up. Believe it or not we end up with nice things
and its usually something at someone else house collecting dust. I ended up with a Glass punch bowl one year, Mickey cookie jar ( I love Disney so that worked out). My husband usually trades for the Nascar stuff there a few in our group that loves those. Anyways its a scavenger hunt to find something of yours to take.

Another exchange I heard was everyone bring New Socks.
There are many different socks out there and some real fun.

Or woth all the gift cards everyone get a 20-25 gift card to anywhere. I bet that be interesting and some trading going on.

A few ideas who knows maybe someone else will have a idea.
I thought this could be interesting and something different.

This may seem childish, but could be fun. I've seen it done in the classroom with kids and they liked it. Everyone sits in a circle. One person gets a present and you pass it around the circle until the music stops. The person holding the present gets that one unless it's one they brought in which case it goes to the next person. There's no stealing or anything.

Have you ever considered having Santa's Helpers come in to entertain and give out the gifts?

My husband and I are professional clowns living in Anna. We offer facepainting, balloon sculptures, comedy magic shows, friendship bracelets, along with fun interaction and games. We've entertained at birthday parties and large events like the Plano Balloon Festival.

We are also Santa's Clowny Helpers for the Holidays.

Our prices are very reasonable (we have four great kids of our own so we know how expensive things can get)and we do our best to work within a person's budget.

Please feel free to take a look at our website at www.freewebs.com/bubblesandwowza for samples of our work. Also please check out our pics as Elves coming next week on our website.

Give us a call at ###-###-#### if you have any questions at all.

Hope you have a great party whatever you decide to do.

Hope to hear from you,

How about a Christmas gift "Theme" exchange. Say "crosses" or "as seen on TV" type gift giving. The men could even do their own theme like golf. Draw numbers and place on gifts...luck of the draw. Thinking ahead and sharing this plan with family and/or friends is great!
