Hi Gals,

My son's 2nd birthday os fast approaching and he is all about trains! I was wondering if anyone has ever heard of a train rental for a party, sort of like the train they have at the phila zoo or similar. Or, if anyone just has a great train idea, I'd love to hear it!

Thanks

My uncle did this for his kid's party... they borrowed a bunch of wagons from a friend, chained the handle of one to the back of the other to make the "train" and made train sides for them out of painted cardboard... they used a 4-wheeler to pull them all. (He also made engine cardboard sides for the 4-wheeler.)

I got a great 3D cake pan in the form of a train off ebay for a very good price. I decorated mine with great colors and little candy bits, then the connecting "cars" were different sized containers with oreo wheels, decorated, with different candies in them.
Does your area have free parenting magazines, maybe at the pediatrician's office or grocerystore, that has information on what to do in your area? I'd check for something like that---that's how I found 3 different trains for party options in my town.

Go to www.birthdaypartyideas.com and click on the train or Thomas link. Parents write in TONS of ideas about parties and it is really helpful. I had a train theme for my son's 3rd and one of his favorite things was the track. We had a tile floor (Florida), and I made a "train track" with black electrical tape going all the way from our front door to the back door (the party was in our backyard). He used it for a year for all of his trains and cars until we had to remove it to put the house on the market!

The West Chester Railroad (http://www.westchesterrr.net/)!!! I had my son's 1st birthday party on board, and it was fantastic! I served home made snack bags (I called them "Choo Choo Chewies") for the children and had a some other snacks for adults on the trip out, and we sang "Happy Birthday" and had cake on the way back. He loved it, wasn't too long for him (but long enough to have fun) and I didn't have to clean up my house after a party.
