Chiropractic Care and Children

Does anyone have their kids in daycare and have them seek chiropractic care? I am a firm believer in chiropractic care and the aid it provides in overall health. Since my 3 year old has been being adjusted in the last year he has barely been sick and when he is it is mild and he is yet to get an ear infection ( which he has had multiple in the past.) I unfortunately need to start him and my infant in daycare and I am extremely concerned about how sick they will be. Any parents I know with kids in daycare the kids are sick all the time! Does anyone have kids in daycare and notice a lot less sickness than other kids because they see a chiropractor? Just curious?? Thanks!!

What can I do next?

My SIL takes her youngest son to the chiro. monthly. He is in daycare. He is always (and I am not joking...seriously always) ill. My oldest daughter is in preschool (so lots of germs). She is rarely ill (actually she has never been to the doctor for any kind of sickness) and has never been to the chiropractor. So I guess it might work for some and not for others. If you think it is working for you, excellent!

I am a believer in chiropractic care too. A room full of toddlers is a very germy place. Being mindful of a good diet...the less sugar the better, to keep th immune system up will help. If he is prone to ear infections, you might try no dairy. Kids with multiple ear infections sometimes have an issue with dairy and back to back ear infections are sometimes the symptom of that. The regular chiro-care certainly can't hurt.

Hi L.,

My kids have been in chiropractic since birth. They are now 18 and 15. Rarely did they get sick because proper, principled chiropractic care WILL keep their immune system functioning properly and keep them well. Supplementation is simply that, supplementation. It's great, we do supplement, but if you understand that the spine is the lifeline to the brain that controls EVERY organ then make sure you have a good chiropractor and use it as your first line of defense.

We also have detoxed our home and we have good nutrition. There is no need to intentionally break down the immune system we so desperately want to work well. My chiropractor's little ones are both in "school" at age 3 and 1 and they have yet to be sick....I know because my girls are their babysitters :)

God bless!

Not all kids in daycare are sick all the time. My daughter was in daycare starting at 12 weeks. She has been the healthiest kid ever (she's 8 now). She rarely has ever had to stay home because of sickness.

I believe that chiropractic care is useful for many things, but have never used it as a preventative for sickness. I wouldn't hesitate to use it for that reason, just haven't had to.

I have an almost 4 year old and a 6 month old, both in daycare 3 days a week and getting chiro. care. Both have been in daycare since very young babies. My oldest did get about 6 ear infections from age 7 months to 2 years, but really hasn't had much illness since age 2. My 6 month old has had some congestion and a couple of small colds, but nothing major yet. Hope this helps!

my kids were raised in daycares since i'm a full time business owner. my daughter had perfect attendance until the last month of 4th grade. i think it's because they take multivitamins/omega 3's every day. I also in winter keep the heat set at 68 since if it's hotter we tend to get stuffy noses and have respritory problems. i am a big believer in chiro care and myself have gone since i was 3 (i have a birth defect so back problems have been ongoing). Not sure if this helps but wish you luck!

We do chiropractic care and my son is at a homeschool school, as well as, in sports with tons of other kids (many sick right now). My son has not been sick in a long, long time.
When getting regular adjustments, the body can fight off all the junk out there.
Just my experience,

I think there are many other things you can do to boost a child's immune system. Chiropractic care might help in some areas (possibly in the area of lymphatic flow and less congestion in the head) and it's certainly beneficial in other areas, but I don't think it's the only or even the primary key. If it works for you, fine - but I'd beware of any chiropractor telling you that he/she can prevent illness that way.

I was adjusted for years and took high end supplements from the chiro, but I still was sick (colds, chronic bronchitis, ear trouble) - made no difference. Since I've strengthened my immune system, I have not been sick. Same with my husband and our son.

I love that you asked this question! We are not in daycare but are out in the community for the bulk of our days. Last year our kids were sick on a constant basis. It was terrible! They also have Type 1 diabetes so sickness can be very stressful for us to be constantly going through.

This year, my husband and I decided to do an experiment. We started getting the kids adjusted every month and ever since then, we have had ZERO sickness. I'm a believer!
Also, supplementing with vitamin D3 drops and fish oils boost immunity.
Good luck and good health to your family!

Since you are open to chiropratic care, you probably know that it isn't just one thing. It is part of a healthy lifestyle.

So a healthy diet, exercise, etc will help as well.

Your children will probably get sick less than the other kids. There is no guarantee they won't get sick. Hopefully not as often or as severe as the other children.

My kids were in daycare, my son started when he was 6 months old. Yes he got sick and we ended up getting sick as well. BUT not as often as the other children. Since then, I've realized what it takes to have a healthy son and daughter. I'm proud to say they have not been on an antibiotice since my daughter was a toddler.

Sometimes you have to trust yourself and God.

Many blessings,

M.

Yes I believe it works too. My 3 year old is in daycare and gets adjusted since birth, she is rarely sick. My nephews have had so many ear infections, even put tubes in and still get ear infections very high fevers and I have been trying to get my brother to take them to the chiropractor but he wont I don't know why.
