Childcare in Florissant/Hazelwood

Trained caregiver? I have a home daycare and I have raised 2 children and now have 2 young ones. I have also raised many other children so that their parents can work and know their child is safe. I have more training than some of these people in a daycare setting as I have been doing this for 21 years!!
I wouldn't put down a home daycare center until you have tried it. I've had parents pull their child out of daycare centers and bring them to me because their child gets sick all the time or there are to many kids and not enough teachers/helpers. Did you know that centers will "pretend" the child has a fever and call the parents to pick them up so that they can have an easier day and still get paid? Yes that does happen as a friend of mine works in a center and she is asked to hold the thermometer under the light or in hot water. But go ahead and send your child to a "trained caregiver"!!

Try the one at Flo Valley Community College.

I agree with Jennifer B on this one. My sister is a home daycare prodvider as well. Many people that run home daycares do so out of a love for children. They are inviting other people's children into their homes! I know from experience that a lot of people employed at "standard daycares" ARE NOT TRAINED!! I know this because I've worked at daycares, and all you have to do to get a daycare job is pass a background check and get a HEP A shot. Also, the employees make around $8-9 per hour, so they really have no incentive to do a good job, and there is a high turnover rate. If you do a well-rounded search for the best care for your children, you probably will find that a home daycare has the most experienced caregivers!

Well, I think Jennifer could of taken the higher road and possibly promoted her business rather than accuse you-but I digress.....

In any case, I haven't tried this place, but just checked it out myself b/c I will need care starting in the fall(my kids currently go to a in-home sitter I LOVE, but she lives too far away and with gas prices, etc-you know...). It's called North County Children's Academy. It seems nice. The place looked and smelled clean (my kids have never gone to a facility b/c I'm afraid they wouldn't get ENOUGH care). I think for my soon to be 4 yr old it was $130.00 a week and for my soon to be 5 yr old it will be $72.00 a week for before and after care.
