I want to buy a used treadmill probably off of craig's list. I have never bought a treadmill before and I don't want to get screwed. Any of you mama's have any tips for me?

What kind of questions should I ask?
Anything in particular I should look for to ensure it's quality?
Any other tips?

I plan on using it daily, so I want one that will work well for me! Any tips that anyone has would be so appreciated!!! Thanks in Advance :-)

What can I do next?

I just recently purchased mine off of craigslist and LOVE it so far. I went to a sports shop and talked with an associate first. I got all the details of what to look for from a sales rep and then went home and found the machine I wanted on craigslist. Of course they were trying to sell me a new one and I didn't tell them I was just using this info to go and buy used, but it still gave me a lot of info. I was able to decide what brand and what model I wanted by talking with a sales person at the sports store.

BTW.. I bought a Horizon T500 and so far it has been great. Don't forget once you decide on a machine to research the reviews as well.

Good luck!

I just sold a treadmill on craig's list - it was a gym quality Precor, it was $3000 used. I sold it for 1200. I got frustrated because I had a few people interested in it and thought I was grossly overcharging - they didn't realize it was a GYM QUALITY treadmill. Super good brand. So I guess I would recommend doing your research first, find out what grade treadmill you want, and then try to find one, and make sure it's a reasonable price - and yes, try it out! Good luck :)

TRY IT OUT!

Not for a minute but for 10 minutes. They 'feel' different after a few minutes and you won't know that if you only do a few steps on it.

Sam I AM! gave great advice. :)

My issue with the one treadmill I owned was how loud it was. I felt like between the sound of the machine and my footfalls, I couldn't watch tv and even my headphones has to be turned up pretty high.

I would research each model online and see what the reviews say before you even go to take a look at it. That way you'll know what to look for and better understand the quality of the machine and price.
