I would try to take the sterilizer back. I never used a bottle sterilizer!

I know BabiesRUs is accepting returns of the Old Dr. Brown's bottles and are trading them with their new BPA free bottles...maybe you should call them and inquire on Avent?...I didn't know Avnet bottles had BPA! What's next??

Why do you have to use a sterilizer? Can't you just boil water and stick the bottles, nipples and caps in the hot water for a few minutes? That's what we did when we used avent bottles, and we didn't have to worry about using plastics.

I would call Avent. They may stand behind their product and have alternatives. I had some (not much) success with another manufacturer. They sent me some free product that is BPA free to make me a happy customer. I still had to spend some money to replace everything, but something was better than nothing. It's worth a try.

Whether you choose to spend the money on the sterilizer is up to you. I have a sterilization function on my dishwasher that I used, so the device wasn't necessary. But, when I chose to go BPA free, I went BPA free 100%. My 2cents.....

Hi Stephanie,
In my opinion, sterilizers are just a marketing ploy to get new moms to spend more money. You can easily sterilize in your dishwasher or by boiling your bottles. I think you should save your money and skip a new sterilizer all together.
