Blood Work (Lab Work) or not...ETA

I know you aren't doctors...I have been to ours and here is my question...

DD has had fever for five straight days...only other symptom a rash, looks viral.

No flu, strep or uti....just fever and feeling yucky.

Yesterday, she the pediatrician told me if DD still had fever today to take her for blood work and gave me lab sheets.

She woke up with a 99.5 and now at 9am finally for the first time has a 98.6 normal temp.

Being Friday and her temperatures tend to peak around 3pm 102.5 to 104.7...do I take her now and avoid traffic....OR wait and see if the fever does come back this afternoon and take her then....will take at least twice as long and interfere with my middle school kids pick up time to go this afternoon.

Wait and see or go....what would you do?

ETA: Our insurance only allows one lab...they only have five locations city wide. They all close on Friday at 4:30 pm....no weekend hours. ARGH!!

What can I do next?

Either go now, or wait until the morning and go to the lab (if open on Saturday) or to a Ready Med or similar walk in center assuming the lab work orders will be good there. If the doctor said you could wait, then waiting from 3 PM to the morning won't make a difference. If you think the paperwork won't be valid at a clinic and your only other option will be waiting till Monday or going to the ER, then go now.

I'd wait. It sounds like she's on the mend.

ETA: Oh, sorry about the insurance. I assumed you could go to a Quest or somewhere like that with better hours. Because there are no Saturday hours, I'd go now.

If she's had a normal temp but still spikes a high one every so often, I'd not bother with the lab work.
Our son would sometimes spike a 102 temp and 30 min later it would be gone without doing anything about it.

I'd wait. It doesn't sound like anything alarming and like it's getting.better. 5 is a tough age for blood work. Sounds like a good chance you can avoid it.

Hospitals have labs that are open 24 hours per day. Call the emergency room at the hospital and tell them you have orders to do labs when she's running a fever and it's up now. Can you come in through them and get the lab work done. We do all our lab work there.

I would wait. Not sure you know but CVS has a "minute clinic" on weekends and very reasonable prices. We seem to always get sick on the weekends and I see them more than my regular doctor.
