Bleeding While on Pill

I always had light-moderate spotting while on the pill (I was on Loestrin which is a once a month period though.) I got tired of dealing w/ it (it was pretty much daily throughout my entire cycle) so after I had my last baby I told my dr. I was not going back on the pill because of the spotting and how moody I was while on it. I never had any cysts or anything, the hormones must have been causing the spotting. Hope you get some answers, I know how annoying it is!

You may have an ovarian cyst as these can be caused by certain pills. I had one develop while on the mini-pill. I have had to switch pills to one containing a combination of estrogen and progesterone to fix it. Every time I would go off of the combination pill, the cysts would come back. Even though the are usually harmless, they do cause bleeding and cramping etc. Get to your doctor for a pelvic ultrasound. It's relatively painless, though may increase your bleeding and cramping for a few days as it did for me. But it's the quickest, least invasive way to rule out something serious, and get you back to feeling better.

I would talk with a nurse or doctor. Because this is the first time in 2 years you've had this, it is not "normal".

At one time when I was on the pill I would have some fairly heavy spotting about a week before my period. Changing my pill did help some (there had been a change in my hormone levels which meant we needed to make a change in the pill I was taking). They also found a couple of small fibroids that may have been contributing to the bleeding. It would probably be a good idea to at least call your OBGYN's office and at least talk to your doctor.

Is it possible that you're pregnant? I had spotting for up to two weeks each time I was pregnant--and the last time, I was actually on the pill!

I would make an appointment with your OB/GYN. My mom had this problem around the same time (when I was in high school), she wasn't on the pill but she randomly started spotting in between cycles and she started having much, much heavier periods. It turns out she had a cyst that they found when they did an ultrasound to make sure everything was peachy. They took it out and she hasn't had a problem since. Best to consult with the OB/GYN -- it is their job :). Best of luck!

I don't know anything about this exact subject but you can always just call the dr and talk to one of the nurses about it and they can suggest if you should be seen or not

I would call your OB/gyn and make them aware of what is going on they will tell you. Keep a Journal too of what is happening each day so when you go in they it isn't a guessing game.
