A note to Katrina....I don't think that is what the question asked! It's a good idea to stick to the topic!

Breakthrough bleeding is common, but it can be a hassle! I have PMDD as well and I will tell you what I do for it if youre interested. Just send me a PM.

I got pregnant with my youngest son on Yaz. LOL! I just got the Mirena IUD and I love it.

Hi L.,

I had a terrible experience with Yaz about a year and a half ago. It is supposed to control PMDD but it had totally the opposite effect on me. It had me to the point that I was actually feeling psychotic. I was having thoughts of hurting people and I just felt like I was in a rage all the time (thank the lord that I had the sense not to act on those thoughts!). I was also emotionally out of control and crying and yelling all the time. It started about 3 weeks into my first pack of pills. Fortunately I was able to recognize the symptoms before it got any worse and got off of them. I went onto some websites and read thousands of responses from women with similar symptoms form this birth control. Some say it works for them but if you are having any reservations about it at all I would talk to your doctor and discontinue using them. Just keep a close watch on all of your symptoms.

I was on Yaz for about a year and wasn't too fond of it. I would talk to your dr. tell him/her what you want, and what you experience during your period. They might want to try you on a couple different ones before you settle. Just make sure if you do try different ones to take extra protection when doing the naughty :)

I've heard breakthrough bleeding is very common with Yaz. My SIL was on it for a few months and also had bad PMDD. She discontinued use and got on ortho-tri-lo. This is also what I use and I love it. I would talk to your dr. about your symptoms and see what your other options are.
