Chiropractic. When my son's L2 is out of alignment, he wets the bed and then I run him to the chiro and he's fine for 8 or more months. My friends have done the same thing and some of them have stopped completely after just 1 or 2 adjustments.

www.icpa4kids.org to find a chiro that works on kids.

If your 5 year old son is still wetting the bed I suggest you go to the doctor and discuss Enuresis. It's a very common medical condition among children, mostly boys. It can last as long as age 12, usually when puberty hits. There's nothing that can be done to "fix it". Do not punish. It's a medical condition. This has been common for many years but hidden. But now it's coming out of the closet. For example, they have overnight pull ups for big kids just for this reason.

My oldest son, now 23, had this problem. I had no idea until we saw the doctor for it at age 8! We thought it was laziness and punished him. It can happened most nights but may have a dry night once in a while which gives the impression that he can hold his urine but is lazy. Not true. The only time we punished him was for not cleaning up after himself, per our rules. But as the doctor told us, puberty would hit and it would be gone. It was! So it turned from bed wetting to nocturnal emission. Yah, not fun but all normal and natural. Just be patient and supportive.

He's not really old enough to stop, give him time to get old enough. Some boys wet until they are 9-10 years old. Restricting fluids makes them dehydrated and the urine more concentrated so they get even less control during the day. Just give him time, leave him in pull ups or wash the sheets and waterproof mattress pads.

Audrey Z's second paragraph is what worked for us. We made sure to wake our son nightly at about the same time. At first, we even had to resort to carrying him to the bathroom, and propping him up while he did his business. Essentially we trained him to wake at about the same time every night. So far so good but it took a while to train him.

Hi S.! I’m M. Francis from the GoodNites NiteLite Panel. Mamapedia doing a partnership with GoodNites through September. I hear from parents in your situation all the time so I wanted to chime in with some advice.

Have you tried limiting fluids close to bedtime and making sure your child goes to bed around the same time every night? If you’re already doing that, you may just need to ride it out for a while. It’s actually very common for five-year-olds to still have nighttime accidents—in fact, many kids are still having occasional accidents at age 9 or 10, or even beyond!

You may want to check with your child’s doctor just to make sure there’s nothing physical going on with your son. If all is well medically, I would focus on making him comfortable and making your life easier! You can try GoodNites Underwear or a similar product to help him wake up in a dry bed every morning. You’ll both be less stressed if you know you won’t be dealing with wet sheets. Check out www.goodnites.com for more resources and articles about bedwetting and other nighttime issues. Let us know how things are going!

My 5 year old son started wetting the bed out of the blue a few months ago at the beginning of the school year. His doctor said that since he is a very hard sleeper that this sometimes will happen. I started closely monitoring is drinks in the evening and making sure he went to the bathroom right before laying down and the bed wetting was short lived. Once the school year got underway and doing the other things everything went back to normal.

Limit what your son drinks before he goes to bed. May be an hour before he goes to bed do not let him drink anything. always make sure that he empties his bladder before he goes to bed. Tell him too if he feels like he has to pee get up and go. Hopefully, he has easy access to the bathroom. Everytime he wakes up dry praise him and may be make a chart. If he gets so many stars then he gets a present. Good luck
