Anyone Use Allegra?

Hi all,

I've had allergies for years, but I'm having a particularly tough time controlling them this year. My doc put me on Allegra hoping it will clear up a seriously sore throat that isn't going away on its own.

Anyone take Allegra? Do you get really drowsy & are unable to drive like the warnings say? I'm a bit concerned about that...

Thanks!

M.

I take Allegra and Singulair to control spring allergies. I've never noticed any drowsiness from Allegra at all, although Benedryl and Chlor-Trimeton will knock me out within 30 minutes.

I've taken Allegra and haven't had a problem. If you're concerned ask the Dr. for the 24-hour pill and take it when you go to sleep that way you are well rested and you shouldn't feel the sleep effects the next day. If it's AllegraD, take it in the morning as the decongestant can have the opposite effect and keep you up at night.

I use Allegra. It was the one allergy pill that wouldn't put me to sleep. The one pill that just came out over the counter, zyrtec, would put me to sleep. However, since I had my kids, it seems like they knocked out any immunities I had built up over the years and last season was miserable (although it was a worse-than-normal season for many). I actually just got a prescription to Nasonex to see how this works. Good luck.

Hi M.
If you are willing to try an over the counter brand, I highly recommend CounterAct Allergy by Melaleuca. My neighbor swears this is the best she has used for her allergies in her life. My teen age cousin loves it as well. It's only $9.99 for preferred customers. Let me know if you'd like to give it a try. Also, it is non drowsy. My personal experience is that it really does work well. The first time I took one, I didn't need another one until a week later.

I have been using Allegra and I have not had an issue with feeling or being drowsy. It has worked wonders for my allergies.
